Another Reagan
Reagan won by standing on a handful of core principles. He didn't demand everyone agree with him all the time, but he didn't spend more time fighting Republicans than Democrats like a certain recent nominee. And, this is vital, he didn't care what the mainstream press thought about him. He went to the people and convinced them he had a better way and he stuck to it.
Conservatives must band together and stop the President from turning this into a socialist state. Did we defeat the USSR in order to become them? We must each do what we can.
I have started a blog to join my voice with all the others. Check it out at http://www.rightviewpoint.com.
If we don't stand now, when? Do we want to give out children and grandchildren the same country we received or watch American liberty become another historical footnote?

And ah John McCain won the Republican nomination, didn't he?
How can a perfect conservative win the White House when he couldn't even win the nomination?

Reagan won by appealing to the MAJORITY. The party of Republicans tried appealing to the 3% who had no loyalty in their principles, who gave a conservatism test to any who agreed enough to cross party lines, and who in the end gave so much negativity to the party of Republicans that many who had voted for Reagan and Bush fled.
Why don't we try good old Republicanism, the kind practiced by those who won, instead of the Bucannanites, Ron Pauls, and Ross Perots?

Actually Joe,
I know that you and I don't really disagree. If I get what you are saying, you believe that the infighting has got to stop.
Our disagreement is in how. You believe if we appease the purist that somehow this is going to bring the party of Republicans together. The problem is that the party of Republicans needs the 9/11 Democrats and Independents who are NOT conservative.
Does that mean dropping their principles? No, it DOES mean including LOYALTY in any talk of principles.
Does that mean compromising and working with Democrats and Independents? Yes, like it or not, America is made up of voters of different ideologies. The trick is standing on core issues that is so important, like the economy, the courts, and the war that Democrats cross party lines and Independents find reasons to lean Right every election.

Sanity...
The trick is to have someone with personality who connects...remember all the conservative candidates who never made a bleep on the radar? They weren't personable!
Reagan and Bush were warm and came accross as the type of people you could connect with. Of all our candidates in the last election, Huckabee was probably the most personable, but he wasn't "conservative enough"...and he got bashed by our side quite a bit. I think if he runs he could get the nomination. But that woudn't please many conservatives...so they would probably not vote again... Jindal is good, but the media will destroy him.
We have a challenge on our hands. We may wind up with the leftwing radicals in control for a long long time, and as we are seeing now, the "re-making of America" is speeding ahead...

Great job!
It is amazing how much conservatives hate John McCain. I wish that he and Sarah were in charge right now.
Republicans need to move in the direction that you suggested. It is crazy to think that what has not worked will work once it's done exactly the same way yet again!!!
BTW, conservatives should thank Bush for winning twice, against all odds, the entire media, including the conservative media!

Sheila...a thought...
Ok, sit down and don't faint...but let me whisper a name...Bush.
No, I mean Jeb Bush.
I know, when his name was first being thrown about, I thought no way; the media would go balistic over another Bush in the WH.
But with the way Obama is lining up to bribe our enemies...we WILL be hit again and the American people will be screaming for a Bush to keep us safe again. GW cannot legally run again but his brother can.
Jeb is not his born again brother turning the other cheek. Jeb is known for taking no crap from anyone, not his Democrat legislation or the media. And if the media (either side)tries to take him on, he will take his case to the people.
