Washington Post: Lawmakers Decry Iran-India Alliance

While I agree

that we need to be able to count on India as a serious ally and an alliance between India and Iran is a threat, doesn't sending a letter directly from Con gress to a foreign head of state violate the Logan Act and cause a de facto "alternate foreign policy" to be sent out into the wider world? I condemned Pelosi when she went to Syria and tried to conduct personal foreign policy in opposition to the President. Isn't this the same thing, but coming fromt he Presidents own party? Explain to me how I am wrong.

"Key congressional supporters of closer ties with India have signed a toughly worded bipartisan letter to the Indian prime minister warning of "grave concern" that India's ties with Iran "have the potential to significantly harm prospects" for a nuclear cooperation deal that President Bush reached with India in 2005."
