University...

was an escape from reality, where I could "find meaning" in any ol' piece of crap. Next time I'll use my education or soomething more useful.

I mean,

FOR something more useful. Dang keyboard.

But in college I DID learn how to do the foxtrot!

Thanks for the comment. I work in a technical field, and sometimes work alongside universities.

Some academics are really nice, and good at explaining their subjects (and are capable of writing prose).

However, university somtimes trains other academics to be obscure, arcane, and inarticulate.

They are taught to wrap up simple concepts into incredibly complex forms, as a sign of learning.

It drives me mad having to unpick basic truths out of a tangled and disorganised knot of ideas!

Academia: breeding ground for Liberalism, and the front line of America's culture war. Clean the nests out.

My pet hate with universities:

Some liberals are pretty clever.

They then go to university and mix with other liberals, walk around with a few placards, study hard and get good degrees.

Because industry is "the man" they decide to stay on at university.

They do further research (i.e. studying angels on a pinhead for some lecturer, who has spent his LIFE counting angels on a pin head).

They then get masters, or PhDs. They are now part of the elite. Their academic prowess (which is undoubtable) provides them with the self-confidence they need to preach liberalism to the world.

This is where all those "love is merely a chemical process" scientists come from.

In the normal, outside world, they would be regarded as FREAKS.

But because they have a PhD, they believe that their "devil's advocate" worldviews are validated by their own arrogance.

I'm with you on that Greg

and use their power to force indoctrination of the young. Then use mental gymnastics to rationalize the hypocrisy that permeates their world. If it's a private school, I've got no complaint, but when it takes public money, I get irate.
