Just sucks paying a state AND federal income tax. But I really do love it here.

Why do you ask, anyway?

After reading your blog I've realized that you have a couple of misunderstandings. First, black colleges aren't a new thing; they've been around since The Reconstruction era(circa 1870's). These schools were( and to some extent still are) needed on the basis that Blacks( or African Americans) weren't permited into white universities. Today these schools, which are NOT all black universities, offer equal levels of education to there white counterparts for my people. Next,you can be African-American by being a descendant of a former slave just as easily someone from South Africa(white or black)that just gained citizenship. It's all a matter of perspective. And finally, there's a difference between choosing to live among a similar ethnic group and being forced to live there. THAT'S what my parents marched for.

__Every human seeks to gain the means in which to individually prosper. Everyone follows the route that simplifies the process. When one finds a system that works continuously, with the least physical effort, the system is secured for personal benefit. Politicians have secured great profit in promising to be the white knight to end situations of personal turmoil. Individuals, in America, have secured personal gain by their actions, just as the politicians have secured positions of power. This is the continuous loop of Americans, who's responsibility is to self, and the gains that can be accumulated for self. This is the power of individual factions, undermining the power of "We The People". Read Madisons 10th Federalist paper, and you will find the situation America faces today!

I want to personally invite you a screening of my film, LOST IN THE FOG, at the Siskel Film Center. It plays on May 17th 3PM and May 19th 8PM and I'll be in attendance for both screenings. I came across this story because my main subject, Harry Aleo, has been antagonizing the local liberals in my San Francisco neighborhood for years...and then he got the racehorse of a lifetime. Great guy, great story. Hope to see you and your friends for this celebration of a true iconoclast.

As anyone who lives in or near Chicago knows,you are quite right about many of the blacks voluntarily choosing to segregate themselves. I have definitely seen some improvement in this situation in the past ten years or so however. Let's hope that racism on BOTH sides of the racial divide continues to decline!
