Explain to me

I wish I could!

None of what is happening makes any sense at all.

I do agree that Medved has realized the dire situation that the GOP finds itself in, and unlike most conservative talkers, realizes that you can't win elections if the party keeps getting smaller.

You mean Hewitt?

Medved seems to have bought into the idea that the GOP lost because of the 3% Libertarians and Constitutionist (the Republican in name only or Republican lite). I too blame them but not for their lack of numbers. I think their negativity cost. Before 2004, there was two sides to every issue. After, there was one, Bush and the GOP is to blame period.

Imagine what the American people would have done with the media and their minions that claimed to be the base of the Republican party telling them the GOOD that Bush and the GOP has done?

No, they wait until Bush is practically out the door to say, oh yeah, he kept us safe...like being safe in October of 2001 wasn't the biggest deal ever...and the leader that could promise us that couldn't measure his place in Rushmore!

Now, they are at it again...telling the GOP that what we need is to be more of what 9/11 Democrat and Independents are NOT: conservative.

I am surprised that Hewitt seems to have gotten on the mark. But he wasn't always stupid was he?

The key word is "perceived"

Sanity, I don't think he meant they "were"...;)

Medved was solidly behind Mac even though he didn't agree with him 100%. He was with him even before he was the nominee.

Sheila,

Oh yes I know; Medved has always been a pragmatist but for some reason he believes that the GOP needs Libertarians, Constitutionist.

But the numbers just aren't there. The latter makes up 3% tops. The GOP has been appeasing that 3% because they are vocal and claim to be the base. Unfortunately, that 3%'s constant negativity toward Republicans and their politicians has cost the Independents (that gave Reagan, Clinton, Bush and Obama their victories).

All four ran center, including Obama who no one really knew what he was going to do or what he believed in (other than change).

Again, as in my post...think about it, if you were a part of that 60% Independent or the cross over Democrats, why would you WANT to join a party that is becoming MORE of what you are NOT?

That's like trying to get more beef eating customers to come to your restaurant and serving nothing but seafood.
