Hi, Beltway Girl! Very profound essay! Every vote does matter, especially those for McCain! The polls are tightening and now it all depends on turnout. It could be that pesky electoral college that will decide this thing because the country is so divided. Good post with a great message!

Holy Canoli - finally a new post from you! Just kidding.
It is a pick me up. Okay, voted early and it in the books. Will be standing on the street corner on Tuesday with McCain/Palin signs waving like a fool.
It ain't over yet. I still think McCain is going to win and I think he is going to take PA. Scrappy Senator Gaffetastic and take his fake Scranton roots and stuff it in a pipe and smoke it. I would love for Obama to lose and then Gaffetastic goes back to Delaware and they announce he lost his Senate seat. Oh what joy that would bring! Hee! Hee!
I see those polls on tv and I laugh and then I laugh some more. I don't believe any of them. By the way, large turn out so far in CA. It is due to Prop 8. that would be a kick if McCain took CA. Now that would be classic!

Cusirous: are those Catholics up there upset about being catholic are about reading a letter from several bishops explaining that they excommunicate themselves by supporting the infanticide agenda of Obama? I'm a Catholic and can't even bring up the "A" word with my folks - Kennedy Dems. No need to say more.

don't let the MSMs browbeat you into staying home. let's get out there and vote.
our country is facing unprecedented challenges, and we all know this. i know my blog wasn't a ray of sunshine, but i raise the issues only to note that john mccain would be my choice in dealing with those issues where the left usually loves stepping in to take credit. they've been taking credit for some things that have evolved into disasters for a long time now. maybe taking some of the blame might be in order now, too.
whoever you're voting for, please vote. every vote will count.

British singer Seal has vowed to quit America if Republican presidential candidate John McCain wins this week's election.
The musician and his supermodel wife German Heidi Klum are paying close attention to the history-making vote.
And Seal is throwing his support behind McCain's opponent, Democrat Barack Obama, vowing to take the first plane out of the country if the Illinois senator fails to make it to the White House.
In an interview with Vanity Fair magazine he says, "If McCain is elected and America staggers on further toward the abyss, then we will leave the country."

obama was not elected because of his embrace of the left's radical social agenda. that's how kerry lost. that's how dukakis lost. that's how countless others without some wider appeal failed. no, before the economic meltdown, things had turned john mccain's way. had he had mitt romney on board as veep, i believe he'd have won. but john mccain's not a gypsy fortune-teller. and sarah palin was a bold, gutsy move that would also have made history. evidently, though, the media didn't think that story had enough historic significance or appeal. if the leftie press threw over hillary for obama, they certainly weren't going to hold hands with palin. my God, they'd knife her in the back.
we have our first african american president tonight. this is an historic milestone. all presidents do as they please, in large part, while they are in office. let's hope president obama proves to be a maverick. while i doubt it will happen, it is possible. but i can't picture senator infanticide becoming a fan of abortion restraint. the thing is, though, that the african american community is being destroyed by abortion and is very pro-family.
i will have some HOPE here. let's see how that goes. probably hillary on the supreme court, but you never know.
heartbreaking for a war hero to lose tonight to a friend of someone like bill ayers, so gutless he'd declare war against his own country. i'm sure grant park held special memories for him.

Pete Wentz, bass player for Fall Out Boy, showed up at his polling center near Beverly Hills, California, which turned out to be the garage of a private home. The longtime Obama and Joe Biden supporter — who also rallied against a California proposition that would ban gay marriage — said his vote "feels important."
"I don't usually go out of my way to indoctrinate people or tell people, 'You should do this because of me, or you shouldn't do this because of me,' but I think it's important for people to get out there," said the 29-year-old rocker. His pregnant wife, singer Ashlee Simpson, wasn't with him, but Wentz said she would be out later to vote.
For Wentz, the vote for Biden for vice president was more than important — it was personal.
"I would not be standing here actually in reality at all because my parents met working for Biden," he said. "They met on the campaign, so they have this particular affection for Joe. He came to their wedding. If it weren't for Joe Biden, I would not exist as a human being."

MILFORD, Conn. -- Barack Obama's former pastor, speaking Thursday at a forum about race and religion, criticized the media's coverage of a controversy that threatened to derail Obama's campaign and caused the president-elect to sever ties with his longtime spiritual leader.
The Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr. said the media took videotaped clips out of context that showed him making anti-American statements from the pulpit of the Chicago church where Obama had worshipped for 20 years.
The videos, which included Wright thundering "God Damn America" from his pulpit, dominated cable television for weeks.

Kennedy getting digs off Senate floor
In order to make it easier for Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.) to make his way from his office to the Senate floor, Democrats have decided to give the Senate lion a den just off the chamber floor.
Directly across the hall from the majority leader's office -- and next to a portrait of Abraham Lincoln -- is a room labeled "Rules and Administration" and controlled by Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), who heads the Rules Committee.
"She was gracious and kind enough to offer the additional space and Sen. Kennedy is very appreciative," said Anthony Coley, a Kennedy spokesman. Kennedy's current office is in the Russell building, which is either a long walk or a bumpy train ride away from the Capitol
President-elect Obama has said that his second legislative priority -- after shoring up the economy and passing alternative-energy legislation -- is to reform healthcare. Kennedy, chairman of the Health, Education, Labor, & Pensions Committee, has been a lifelong champion of healthcare reform and could more easily shepherd a bill from his new nearby office.

Obama's Aunt to Fight to Stay in U.S.
Friday, November 7, 2008 2:30 PM
Article Font Size
BOSTON — An immigration lawyer for President-elect Obama's aunt says she wants to fight a deportation order and stay in the United States.
The Associated Press found that Zeituni Onyango is staying with relatives in Cleveland after fleeing her public housing apartment in Boston. She had been living there for five years.
Onyango, who is Obama's father's half-sister, was ordered to leave the country in 2004 by an immigration judge who rejected her request for asylum from her native Kenya.
Cleveland attorney Margaret Wong told the AP on Friday she is exploring legal options and may file a motion to re-open Onyango's case. She said Onyango is upset because she believes someone leaked information about her immigration status to try to hurt Obama's candidacy.

President-elect Barack Obama's Chicago neighborhood is about to become a very different place to live now that Secret Service agents have turned the once easy-going area into a virtual fortress to protect the next president, The Times of London reported.
After months of shaking hands with strangers, the President-elect delivered his victory speech from behind bulletproof glass in Chicago's Grant Park.

Can we have some more money please....
Why can he never be satisfied with the money he is given? Why does he feel that he needs to get more and more?
Though the campaign is over, President-elect Barack Obama is still soliciting contributions to help fund his move into the Oval Office, Politico reports.
The Obama team has created the Obama-Biden Transition Project, a non-profit corporation set up under section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Service code, to help supplement the $6.3 million he will receive in taxpayer funds.
Contributions of up to $5,000-per-person can be made to the non-profit, and a source close to the situation told Politico Obama will not accept contributions from lobbyists or corporations.
Though past presidents have sought private donations to help fund their incoming administration, some warn of the implications that might result.
"You have to be very wary," Meredith McGehee, policy director for the Campaign Legal Center, told Politico. "Any time you have that combination of contributions and politicians, the opportunity to use that as a means of gaining access is a threat."
Former Federal Election Commission chairman Michael Toner told Politico private funds are needed to vet prospective appointees, study agencies and chart policy plans and to fund expenses the public money can’t be used for.
Politico reported that neither the Obama campaign nor a source close to the situation would say whether the non-profit would disclose information on its donors before Obama takes the oath of office.

Did you see his presser yesterday? What`s with the president elect sign? Does he need a guide to the podium? He must hate white women since he slammed Mrs. Reagan and then referred to "hisself" as a mutt. Must not like black women either since he left his aunt to live in a Beantown slum but still took her money. Of course, he gets a pass and we are about to get the shaft.

I saw that "President Elect" sign at the podium and almost fell over. I think I was more floored with the group. The governor of Michigan. She has done so well with that economy. And the Mayor of Los Angeles. Okay, that is a big turn off. That city is so out of control. And of course he is going to run again. He thinks the people have not forgotten the affair that he had and how that all blew up on him.

Obama Positions Himself to Quickly Reverse Bush Actions on Environmental, Social Issues
By Ceci Connolly and R. Jeffrey Smith
Washington Post Staff Writers
Sunday, November 9, 2008
Transition advisers to President-elect Barack Obama have compiled a list of about 200 Bush administration actions and executive orders that could be swiftly undone to reverse the president on climate change, stem cell research, reproductive rights and other issues, according to congressional Democrats, campaign aides and experts working with the transition team.
A team of four dozen advisers, working for months in virtual solitude, set out to identify regulatory and policy changes Obama could implement soon after his inauguration. The team is now consulting with liberal advocacy groups, Capitol Hill staffers and potential agency chiefs to prioritize those they regard as the most onerous or ideologically offensive, said a top transition official who was not permitted to speak on the record about the inner workings of the transition.

President-Elect Barack Obama held his first press conference yesterday, one that focused mainly on the current economic crisis. One detail that flew under the radar, however, was which networks and newpapers got to ask questions, or, rather, which one didn't get to ask a question. As Media Bistro notes, one network who was not called upon sticks out: Fox News.
It will be interesting to see how the conservative network adjusts to a political reality in which the Democratic Party holds the White House and substantial majorities in both houses of Congress. Michael Wolff, a Vanity Fair columnist who is writing an authorized biography on Rupert Murdoch's career and family, claims that even Murdoch is embarrassed by Fox News:

Obama goes to White House
(CNN) — Barack and Michelle Obama will get a tour of their future home Monday as they meet with the Bushes at the White House.
President Bush and the president-elect are expected to hold a meeting in the Oval Office, while first lady Laura Bush is expected to show the incoming first lady around the property.
Bush has pledged to do everything he can to make sure the transition is smooth.
Obama said he does not anticipate any problems Monday, adding that he is “gratified by the invitation” to meet with the president and his wife.
“I'm sure that, in addition to taking a tour of the White House, there's going to be a substantive conversation between myself and the president,” he said at a news conference Friday.
“I’m going to go in there with a spirit of bipartisanship and a sense that both the president and various leaders in Congress all recognize the severity of the situation right now and want to get stuff done,” he said.
The head of Obama’s transition team, John Podesta, said Bush and Obama will have a lot to talk about.
"They need to cover a broad range of issues, from national security affairs, where we are on homeland security. But I think he'll also want to spend a good deal of time on where things stand on the economy."
While Obama has sought advice from other presidents, the White House press secretary predicts Bush will exercise restraint.
"I don't think that President Bush will be presumptuous in trying to talk to Barack Obama about how he makes decisions, or how Barack Obama should make decisions. I think that the President probably will share how he's made decisions and some of the things that he feels are important," Dana Perino said.
The courtesy tour is a historic formality. Monday will mark the first time since 1988 that a Bush has not hosted or been hosted by a Clinton.
Glad he does not "anticipate" any problems. WTH does that mean?

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Organizers of the 56th Presidential Inauguration are warning consumers to be skeptical of tickets being offered for sale online to President-Elect Barack Obama's swearing-in ceremony.
With 73 days to go, tickets are already appearing on the Internet with a hefty price tag. On eBay, 18 bidders have driven up one pair to more than $1,000. One Web site, Inauguraltickets.com, is inviting members of the public to place orders, warning "Our prices will reflect the difficulty in obtaining" tickets. Another site, Dreamtix, is offering a variety of seats ranging from $1,400 to $21,000 a pop.
