Pushing Back the Darkness.

God has almost been pushed entirely out of the public square in America due to our "tolerance" and pursuit of "diversity". We must stand in the breach.

The forces of evil are on the march, and will not give up. It is sad to me to see what has happened to this country that was founded on Biblical principles, and trust in God.

Almost anything is acceptable now,it seems.The cultural battles continue. You're so right, we must stand in the breach, and with God's help we will keep pushing back, and bring God back into the public square, while speaking out for justice for innocents in oppressive countries abroad.

I was thinking about the contrast between darkness and light, and I wrote about it on my "Moments" blog linked here...light and darkness...how did we get light?...

And it needs to be stopped.

Pretty soon, if we don't, this will be the norm.

We have a great challenge on our hands...but if we persevere we each can make a difference...

God gave us light, but Christians are also called to be lights in a world that loves darkness. Ever turn on a light in your teenager's bedroom early on a Saturday morning? The hostility there is nothing like what the world feels towards Christians who act as lights in our world. Ephesians tells us that if we live as true lights in the world, however, that's all that's necessary. The world will hate us, but they will see Jesus in us and some, certainly not all, will respond by coming to check out this great new thing called "sight".

Yes we are to be light in this dark world, as followers of Christ.

Those who want the "do what feels good" lifestyle don't like the light, or to have the light shined o their evil behavior, and they hate those who would expose their evil, just as they hated Jesus.

Yes, you are right on which political persuasion is for the "if it feels good do it" philosophy...right now they are in the majority in both houses and may get the WH...

Do you get as frustrated as I do about the trash that is "in our face" practically everywhere we go? Do we just accept it, and do nothing, or do we speak out?

Movies are pretty much all trash, and yet many Christians go to them.

There are Christian women who no longer worry about modesty...even in church!

We need to push back the darkness in our own lives and communities, because that's where the seeds are sown for evil that affects innocents here and abroad...

It is a shame that modesty no longer seems to be a virtue...

We should be teaching it in the church...

Even some toys for kids are very suggestive...and TV...well, there is little I can stomach anymore...

Doc I have been to the link you gave about the pictures you object to. Unless I am missing something there are two pictures of the lady in question in what looks like a one piece bathing suit. I can only find one page to the blog in question, so where are these other "Str8t Talk had posted 8 photos of herself in a bikini?" that you object to?

Wondered where you were Sheila. It seems to me that there is a struggle to know where to push. This after all is not a "Christian Nation" but a nation built on "Christian Principles". There is a difference. I think that CS Lewis gets it right. He wrote a book int he 50's called The Abolition of Man, where he talked about the evil of Moral Relativism and how when the only absolute is the absence of absolutes it robs a people of their sense of right and wrong, and in a vacuum of power, the corrupt and evil step up and assert power. Essentially there is never an absence of societal judgement, but freedom from religion leads ultimately to a less just right and wrong in society.

He went on to say that there is a Tao, a truth inherent not just to Christianity, but a truth so fundemental that all serious religions and cultures have adopted it in some form. He went on to outline what this was at the end of his book and reference where it is called for in each.

I understand the idea that you can't "legislate morality" based solely on Christianity in a pluralistic society, but you can legislate from shared morality. And the most important fight of all is within each of us to maintain Holiness as we try to emulate Christ. If we do that, we will see the difference within our own small corner of the world.

Yes, unfortunately the courts have not helped this country in regards to decency and dignity.

When the courts ruled that the most vile material is "protected" under the first amendment, we lost big time.

But in our local communities we have the right to speak out and keep this garbage out, and make people aware of the evils that result from the proliferation of smut.

If we are to speak out for innocents that are being abused in foreign countries we must start at home by speaking out against the source that fuels the appetite of perverts in our local communities.

There was a time in this country where decency and dignity were required in movies, TV, magazines etc.

Even though this country is not a "Christian" country per se, it was founded on Judeo-Christian principles, and we should always fight for those principles to be returned to the national scene.

I believe we as Christians must always be on the frontlines fighting for the return of decency and dignity, wherever and however we can.

FYI, I don't own a bikini! Doc is LYING that I posed in one! If you go to my site, you will see that I do have on a tankini (which looks like a one-piece) the top touches the bottom. Now, if you are offended - it is not my intention. I'm sorry that Doc pulled you into this. This is not the 1st time he has spread dissension on TH and it is a violation of the rules of TH & of the 2nd of the Ten Commandments - bearing false witness.

in your assesment and description of the photos of str8 talk. And your judgement as porn and skunk is akin to the judgement warned against by Christ as false and leading to your own judgement by others as mislead as yourself. He who is without sin cast the first stone, judge not lest ye be judged, bear not false witness against any man, the only one reverent is the Father in Heaven, and many, many more to your beratement.

str8 talk was no more sinful in her photos than you would be in a pair of baggy swim shorts. There was nothing but the beauty of one of God's most beloved creations, the human female.

Get with the Word and Spirit of a loving and just God, and stop trying to be one.

I saw the original pics and never denied their existance. My piousness is not your concern nor is your decision regarding my standing with the true God of Heaven. I am secure in the fact His tomb is empty and my fate is in His hands. I will cease any further expression of my own false pride in argument with yours. I have faith that all is covered and made forgiven by His work. All of both of us are as filthy rags, as proven by our argument over the nature of a woman obviously cherished by Christ as a fellow human born of sin. as are we all.

Hello!

It makes me cry and breaks my heart to hear about any type of abuse of children. We are responsible for loving and taking care of them in their innocence. I believe God will have SEVERE punishments for those who abuse children in any way.

...this sort of msg is not being delivered from enough pulpits these days in our nation. With freedom comes responsibility.
Instead we're getting "no, no, no! Not God Bless America! God D____ America!"
Emotion and bitterness have replaced sound Bible teaching.

I agree.

I heard the other day the number of missing children yearly in this country. I can't remember it specifically, but I was astounded. It was also mentioned that many here in our country are used as sex slaves. Yes, as you said, our backyard is not clean on this issue and this disgusting practice is pursued largely by American men.

It is disgusting what we allow in our own neighborhoods. The trash that is on the shelves in our grocery stores is sickenning.

With this kind of perversion so easily available, it is easy to see how we are creating perverts who prey on innocents.
