The Nobel Prize *Chuckles*

Wow

Disagree with the winner, trash the ENTIRE AWARD. You guys take no prisoners.

Um...

I didn't just disagree with ONE WINNER.

I actually disagree with a LOT of their choices: Jimmy Carter, Koffi Annon (however you spell it), Yassir Arafat and a host of other big lefties I'm not even going to mention cause it's more of the same.

Yeah - they never get involved in politics. You'd never know it looking at their list.

Did you even read what I wrote?

I skimmed

Are you maintaining that no conservatives have ever won the Nobel Prize? And if they have, should they return it?

Forget Politics

Look at some of the people who have won:

Kofi Annan - a guy who's son sold weapons to the Iraqis while the UN sanctions were in place. He won the Peace Prize.

Bono of U2 - ....not sure why he won...

Jimmy Carter - Peace Prize winner even after giving us present day Iran, a nuclear armed North Korea, etc

Betty Williams - Peace Prize winner who suggests that Bush be killed (in a Peaceful way of course.)

Here's one you'll love, James Watson a geneticist who suggests that whites are smarter than Africans.

The Nobel Prize is a joke in and of itself. The fact that now in the past 10 to 20 years or so it only goes to whoever is making the biggest case for faddish left wing causes is beside the point.

Hey, Braniac

Tzimisce writes:

"Bono of U2 - ....not sure why he won..."

That's because he didn't. Do you just make this stuff up?

Meh

Well he was nominated...along with Hugo Chavez.

Okay I was wrong. That still doesn't change the fact that the Nobel Prize is a joke. And the fact that Bono was nominated only demonstrates that the award is given (almost exclusively) to people forwarding faddish left wing causes...

Left Wingers like....

....Henry Kissinger?

You're Right About One Thing Though....

Bono's nomination for fighting world poverty and hunger is definitely a left wing cause.

OH YEAH

One! What am I complaining about? ONE conservative - from 1973. :D See - there's no bigotry here. :D

Look at leftists who have won in the past 10 to 15 years. Al Gore has done NOTHING IN PRACTICAL TERMS to promote peace around the world.

Bono has done NOTHING PRACTICAL to promote peace around the world (outside of a concert or a party here and there - big deal)

Kofi Annan made millions (and the peace prize) on the suffering of innocent people in Iraq.

Betty Williams won the prize - a woman who now says that she would like to see Bush strangled.

Chavez? A guy who a tyrant in the making?

As I said - all of these people big libs. They all made their names on faddish left wing causes. The Prize is a joke.

And you want to hair split over the winners?

Ummmm

Chavez was nominated for the Peace Prize? When was that, exactly?

I do not call getting your facts right "hair splitting" - apparently to you, just making stuff up is enough. By the way, if you would extract your head from your @$$ long enough to do some actual, you-know, fact checking, you would find that Bono has, in fact, done a lot of good in the world, much of it in collaboration with conservatives. Indeed, Bono has widely criticized other activists for dismissing conservative outreach, and relies heavily on Christian groups and other more traditionally conservative organizations for his efforts.

But you don't care about that, do you? Nah, you're just bitter that Mr. Gore won.

As for Betty Williams...

HERE is what she said (notice, nothing about strangulation. Ah, those pesty facts):

Right now, I could kill George Bush," she said. "No, I don't mean that. How could you nonviolently kill somebody? I would love to be able to do that." As she made her point, she chuckled and some members of the audience laughed.

She later apologized for it.

But yeah, that entirely wipes out her role in bringing peace to Northern Ireland. You got me there.

On second thought, you are right

Nobel Peace Prizes do go mostly to liberals.

No worries, though - when they start handing out Nobel War Prizes, you conservatives have a lock.
