Support the Troops???

What happened to this NG battalion is criminal at best. 729 days active duty and not 730 days so they can save on the educational monies. That said, Bush is not a conservative and as far as conservatives supporting the troops, try working at a college with returning veterans. Some of my tree-huggin compatriots are stuck in their "Tree-Planting Brigade of Canada" mode from the 1960s and believe some of the young veterans are no better than the "baby-killers" of Vietnam or they believe that each one has uncontrollable PTSD and will climb a tower with a weapon any day. Either contempt or mis-placed pity is the norm. Veterans of all stripes must do what they've always had to do, fight for themselves and enlist the aid of their family and friends. We can't count on politicians of any party to really support our troops.

The conservative philosophy states that just about any federally run program will be excessively bureaucratic at best, and utterly disastrous at worst.

Military hospitals going to hell? FEMA dropping the ball? Massive failure of infrastructure? Sounds like government work to me.
