selective grief

I agree with the author.Whenever something like this happens and a young life is lost there is a want to do something that will prevent this from happening again. However, you can't legislate morality. You can't prosecute freedom of speech no matter how offensive. We don't have any stats on the number of boys who have ended their lives or took another's because he was the victom of a bully. That is another thing on the agenda now-trying to make a law to prevent bullying.Who decides the definition? It will end up being a liquid definition that will end like the sexual harrassment laws-an all inclusive gray area that lawyers will have a field day with. The sexual harrassment laws have gotten so bad in the place I worked that the definition was expanded to include"anything that makes another employee feel uncomfortable in the workplace".It didn't even have to touch on a sexual issue.I was reprimanded for telling another employee to do her job. That made her uncomfortable and I was written up and had to be dragged through a bureaucratic morass of stupidity and total lack of common sense.Accidents will happen.Life really does suck at times.Once again, where was the parents preparing her for hurt feelings and embarrassing moments?
