I agree with your sentiments. We were also very lucky to have his father at the helm when the Soviet Union crumbled. I don't think enough people realize that his father's foreign policy experience, connections, demeanor and steady hand were invaluable for the peaceful transition of power. I doubt that it would have gone that well with an ideologue or opportunist in the oval office. He was a man that they could trust not to take advantage of the situation. I don't think enough is said about President George H.W. Bush.
