Stop beating around the bush and tell us how you really feel... lol.
I'm very much in agreement with you on this, emjayne. There's this sense of entitlement I get from the political elite. We have Senators in the race for the White House who think so little of their jobs that they don't even show up to work over half the time. If I didn't show up to work half the time, I wouldn't have a job, much less be asked to become the president of the company. Yet they continue to get away with it. Throw the bums out! And certainly don't make 'em the President!

Are you disgusted emjayne?
LOL! Your whole post sounds like conversations Goshawk and I have over the breakfast table as we watch the morning news.
We would like to throw out the whole lot of them. The only purpose of government is to protect us from invasion. WELL, Do we see them doing that??? Of course not.
So in my estimation they are all a bunch of traitors not abiding by the Constitution. But, then again, they don't seem to care one iota about that little document.

As an ex resident of taxachussetts you should know that Ted (Swimmer) Kennedy-D Chappaquidick keeps getting elected and sent back to the Senate in order to keep him off the local roads as much as posssible. The other states probably have similar reasons.
As to the pork barrel spending, that will go on until some Muzzie raises a fuss. Then, they'll kep right on doing the same thing, but call it something else.

y'all
I know I was saying the obvious over and over but sometimes I get full of it. It's so great to have a place to vent where people agree with you! :-))
Tonewah , that is another of my favorite gripes. I hear people complain about teachers getting paid for time not teaching and having the whole summer off. Then I think of the few days members of Congress work HA!
Peppermint, what annoys me is there doesn't seem to be any way to cure it! Constitution?? what Constitution?? HA
Gimp, That is a great explanation of Kennedy's tenure! "Just go to D.C. and stay out of our hair!"
I don't see any end to pork either, since only they have the power to stop it. HA
Thank you all for coming!

LOLOL Thanks for the empathy...whoever said it!
I was just thinking...that's where the Seething Senior comes from. One thing about it , it keeps my blood boiling. I read the editorial page of the local paper in the morning and start seething immed.
My husband, who is 86, tries to avoid all thought or discussion of politics so that he stays calmer! But with me in the house he can't avoid it all.

Did you ever see the movie 'Viva Zapata' Directed by Elia Kazan with Marlon Brando? Brando and his brother (played by Anthony Quinn) start out as starving peasants and fight a revolution to reform the system. They get to power and find that the goodies are just too attractive. At one point Quinn asks,"Whats the point of being a general if you cant live like one?" I've seen it in my own stupid cartoon industry. I worked with the guy who came up with SpongeBob. He went from a starving artist like the rest of us to a wealthy, respected person. For politicians its the same. They get to Washington and all of a sudden they've got their hands on $3 trillion dollars and they promised the people at home they were going to solve all their problems. i think it boils down to morality. if you think that you're the most important person in the world (like everybody around you keeps saying) than you can justify anything.

You make a lot of sense! I understand the thrill of power and also, they learn what it takes to "get along", what they have to do to be part of the brotherhood, get the right committees, and get reelected.
I also know you never hear about the ones who act like statesmen, who try to do a good job, who make all the votes, and put in the time.
All we see are the results of the others.
and no, I didn't see that movie but I get the point.

I'm sooooo with you
on your "moving towards libertarian" comment! There are so few decent public servants left that it's enough to make a poor soul hopeless.
It's a crime that these "career politicians" are in control of their destinies and not the informed public. WE should be able to impose term limits, for the very reason that they would never act against their own self interest. But nooooooo, they have made sure that they vote themselves the right to remain in their positions untill death. Something the founding fathers never intended i'm sure.

No, it wasn't meant to be this way. Senators were appointed and when a governor went out of office, so did the senator he appointed.
Good luck getting rid of any of them!

Anyone with half a brain can agree but it will take more than that to get rid of the scoundrels.
Everyone says get rid of them but don't touch MY congressman. And they keep putting them back in office.
