I LOVE MY COUNTRY

Being older than you, patriotism and love of my country was instilled and even, I guess, distilled in me as much as church and Sunday School on Sunday morning, church services on Sunday night, and Wednesday night prayer meetings.

The American flag stood in church.

As a school child I pledged allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. "Under God" came much later, and I was happy to include it.

I was a very small child when WWII broke out, and my dad would read the newspaper to me very frequently. Mostly it was about the war. I had no idea what it was all about, but I knew that it was a big thing with adults.

Suffice it to say that I love my country. I only wish that those whom we elected loved it as much as I do -- and apparently you do, too. It is not embarrassing to love one's country and to say so.

We need to get our elected officials caught up in the inspiration.
