Who's afraid of Christian theocracy?

Decision making

My faith in Christ infects just about every decision I am faced with. I am often confronted by Atheists or Agnostics who ridicule my faith. AS early as 2 years ago I would have, in the least, have gotten into ashouting match. Not because I started the shouting but because I dared to respond in a manner that forced them to have no answer for their view (not always, but often enough). Now that I am a Little wiser I try my best to keep the shouting part from happening. However, now I feel pathetic when I walk away because all I can do is shake my head at the type of issues people bring up just to get away from being put on the spot with no answers.

I vote my conscience which is dictated by my faith. I take the "Not peace, but a sword" both literally and figuratively. If this makes me a Theocrat then so be it. Using one's faith to provide answers is no different than using any other -ism. I just feel more confident in mine.

Very thought provoking post.

thanks James

James, thank you for the visit and for your comments.

How do you interpret this interpretation of the Kingdom of God and the conquest of the world:

2 Corinthians 10
3For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh.
4For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds.
5We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,
6being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete.

Conquest

If I remember my lessons correctly this was from Paul defending his ministry. We should spread God's word and the sacrifice of Christ through peaceful means. We should do as Christ did in being understanding and forgiving. The battle for the soul is not a worldly battle. We use divine inspiration, intervention, and the Word to try and win souls. Make sense?

makes sense

Thanks again, James.

Yes, we use a different means, to win the world. Makes sense.

The alternative to Theocracy is??

The alternative to theocracy is either nothing (atheocracy) or another theocracy.

All worldviews are religious ascribing ultimate authority to one's god, even if it's the "unknown" or unacknowledged god of atheism.

Those fearful of "theocracy" must ask what part of modern society do they not like... flush toilets? the rule of law? hospitals? anaesthesia during surgery? education for the masses? the rule of law versus tyranny? All of these derive from a Christian worldview that modern man finds so "fearful"?

It's twisted really.

theocracy

Thank you for the comment, Chuck. Although it strikes the ear as rhetoric, serious reflection on what you're saying here can lead to no other conclusion:
