The Dollar Signs
Turns out the movie is doing just fine, dollar-wise, anyway. It only dropped 20% in its second week (typical hit would be 35%; EVAN ALMIGHTY dropped 55%) and is a documentary in the Top Ten.
The movie makes a good point too, which is you are trusting your health to people who lose money if they have to treat you. The best outcome for the insurance companies is you live as long as possible, but only if you don't need the services you're paying for. If you do, you're better off dead as far as they're concerned.

Missed my point
Michael Moore stated that he doesn't care if his movie is on the web...or he doesn't care (yet).
I'm sure that his producers aren't going to be real happy about losing money. And I'm sure they're not going to be real happy to hear that he's fine with giving the product away.
Be interesting to see how many people are going to put up money for Moore's next film in light of this.
Sidenote: If Cuba's healthcare system is so great, why does Castro go to Spain for all his stomach cancer treatment? In typical liberal fashion, "the little guy" gets the crumbs while the rich elites who talk about how much they care fly off to get the real stuff....

Moore Money In The Future
"In typical liberal fashion, "the little guy" gets the crumbs while the rich elites who talk about how much they care fly off to get the real stuff...." Yeah, thank God the little guy does so well in OUR system.
Most likely Lionsgate had a hand in uploading the movie in the first place. It's called Viral Marketing, and it generates cheap publicity. In any business you give away free samples to get people talking; why should the movie biz be any different?
Anyway, no matter what Moore has said, he produced an inexpensive product which is pulling in a healthy profit. I don't think his career is over yet.

meh
First of all, the little guy is doing pretty good in our society. I notice an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants would agree with me.
I'm sorry, how is socializing medicine going to help the little guy? Social Security is broken. Welfare is broken. Our schools are broken. So how is the government getting involved going to help anything?
I didn't say his career was over, I said that his attitude is going to make it HARDER for him to put money together for future products. Furthermore: Sicko isn't doing as well as they had hoped.
Last I saw it had taken in 11 million - which is paltry in Hollywood terms.
"There's a sucker born every minute." Even after saying this, P.T. Barnum still managed to pack those people in. Same with Mike...

Only 11 Million
Yeah but it only cost $9 million to make, which means after three weeks it's already turned a profit. Compare to EVAN ALMIGHTY.

so?
Who cares if it's making money? In Hollywood a "bomb" is defined as a movie that doesn't make as much as they expect it too.
"Sicko" while not a bomb, isn't doing as well as they'd hoped either.
The point is that Moore has bosses he has to answer too just like the rest of us. But when you're talking seven figures, people tend to get more cautious when throwing their money around.

All right, all right
I'll stop arguing with you. If they give Moore enough money to make another movie, I win. If they don't, you win.
