GOD AND COUNTRY
SHOULD WE HOPE FOR OBAMA TO FAIL?

Praying for Obama's Failure
I too want Obama's presidency to fail. I am proud to say that, and I do not care who takes offense at it. I love my Country the way the Founders intended it to be.
I have lost much respect for Newt Gingrich. He made a fool out of himself on Meet the Press, and he also made it appear that there are many cracks within the GOP when he ridiculed Rush for stating that he wants the policies to fail.
I hope to God that Newt is not persuing a run for POTUS in 2012. I cannot cast a vote for him after hearing what he has been saying for the last few years, especially his "Moderates" mantra.

Thank you for your comments. I understand your feelings. I have always thought a great deal of Mr. Gingrich, but I feel like he is compromising his principles.
Unfortunately, I think a lot of conservatives are doing the same. We need to be putting pressure on our elected officials to start standing up for our principles, regardless of what is popular, politically correct or even expedient.

J.M. P:owers. Courageous stand with Rush
You have displayed a rare fortitude in supporting Rush.
I did not view this as a developing dilemma of desperation until I stood firmly in support of Rush Limbaugh during the past month.
Incredibly, I have lost friends and incurred the wrath of so called "Conservatives."
Rush Limbaugh has been established irrevocably as a point of departure in this sad tableau.
Note that Rush has not wavered or retreated. This is remarkable when you realize what Rush has to lose. He is well aware that within a year very few on this blog will have a memory of refrring to mthemselves as "Conservative."
Rush could be denied his microphone very soon. This could become a very dangerous political climate in which we will find these good "Conservatives" gleefully joining in nailing Rush to Savanarola's cross and torching the shavings mounted around his feet. There's nothing more fierce than a converted "Conservative."
Mighty lonely out here with Rush is it not.

How right you are.
Somehow even intellectual, logical people have bought into the "President = Country" mentality.
This is dangerous thinking. The Office of President was designed to have limited power. If we start thinking that the President IS the country, then we begin to remove those limitations. It is then a wide, straight path to Dictatorship.

J.M Powers. Was "freedom" only a debate
Redefining the primal leader was the preliminary objective upon which all other constitutional provision rested.
Washington resolved the very explosive dilemma temporarily whenh he refused to be named "King" by the command officer of the Revoluyionary officers.
John Adams, the most cautious of the revolutionaries, saw that the problem of defining the nation's chief executive very likely could never be resolved within the philosophic framework of Madison's and Hamilton's republican vision.
And now some folks whose souls we know not, who could never approach the depth of intellect and knowledge and integrity of these men, are arbitrarily defining the presidency as nothing more than a common Mountain King.
This is the developing seizure that Rush is defining both consciuosly and perceptibly.
Gingrich is the most capable among us in defining and synthesizing these frightening gambits of those behind Mr. Obama; but he has chosen to join them.
Anyone who has read Shakespeare or Gibbons is not surpised as this unfolds and each individual American discovers that he, too must make a choice. Will he stand with Rush or Newt and Obama?

Excellent commentary ... my hats off to you.
I separate the Presidency from the humanoid occupying the office. That is, the person who occupies the office is expected to carry out only those duties ascribe him/her in the Constitution.
That said, I do indeed hope this President's tenure is a failure. It's not personal, it's based upon my believe that our very future depends upon derailing this train before it gets too much steam. Some would say to me that the train has already left the station.

and Rush. I don't want to see this dictator wannabe succeed in taking us down the path of ruin. It's true that he isn't a king, but he seems to think he is. He's so impressed with himself he views everybody else in disdain. He is one dangerous dude and I certainly don't want him to succeed. His success would be our destruction. I usually admire Newt, but in this case his thinking, or his rhetoric at the least, are somewhat skewed.
Very good post, John. Keep up the good work.

Of course, I too want the socialist pacifist in the WH to fail in his policies. If the nation was attacked again by the Islamofascists, then I would want Obama to be Patton and succeed. But, I fear he does not have the experience to deal with a myriad of problems all at once. He is now over-shown to the public and soon, his numbers will be lowered because his policies will fail economically as Buffet, Cramer, Welch have said just recently. Of course, Rush is correct but we need political leaders in the GOP not 8 RINOS who vote for a new Porkulas that was just done. The GOP had a chance to stand for something, and 8 of them kow towed to perks, earmarks etc. Drop by my friend.

Rush is more of a microcosm of US polices. US policies often overthrow democracies that lean to the left and replaced them with dictators because it is about power and arrogance.
Only the US has the answers to the problems of the world? Only conservatives believe in liberty and want success? As King said, only western arrogance assumes that it has everything to teach and nothing to learn.

I would have to disagree. If Obama's policies fail, then America succeeds.
We don't live in a Democracy, we live in a Republic. Obama's policies, if successful, would destroy that. In his arrogance, he is seeking to grab more and more power and set himself up as a dictator.
It is painfully obvious that Obama does not want liberty and success for all Americans. As we speak he is attempting to strip liberty and punish success.
Maybe Obama should take a lesson from King. Because it is clear that Obama in his arrogance assumes that he has everything to teach and nothing to learn. He not only doesn't want to hear an opposing point of view, but he is taking steps to silence all dissension.

That is, relative to your "biography" statement.
Aside from that, I too pray for the dem's policies to fail - even though there may be some short-term damage to the U.S. I'd prefer that to all of Obama, Pelosi, and Reid's plans being successful. The main purpose of their policies right now are the installation of a democrat
"ruling class" that is permanent. That is, control of both House and Senate as well as the presidency. Everything else is secondary. Control is the operative word - and I believe is the thrust behind the wording of every bill they author, be it economy-related, gun control, medicine, eduation, etc.

Actually, Obama's policies hinder economic recovery. They lower the value of a dollar, raise taxes and living expenses on people who are already struggling, not to mention places an unprecedented amount of debt on our children and grandchildren. He is committing generational theft, bottom line.
There are ways of aiding our economic recovery, but he isn't interested in effective policies. We would be better off if he did nothing at all, and would recover much faster.
There were lots of protests when Bush was grabbing power, have you already forgotten the outrage over the Patriot Act? But Obama has seized more power in 2 months than Bush did in 8 years, and Obama isn't finished yet, he has big plans.

Time has already told. These kinds of policies have been tried before and every single time, have proven to be destructive to an economy.
To hope that he fails, is to hope that he won’t be able to continue enacting failed policies. So, quite contrary to your assertion, it is to hope for America to move beyond our temporary economic problems and truly recover from them. If you hope for Obama to succeed, you are hoping for the utter destruction of America as we have known it.
You are right, Obama’s grab for power doesn’t compare with what Bush did. Obama has seized more control over the private sector than any American President ever has. He has racked up more debt in 2 months, than Bush did in 8 years. You’re right, it doesn’t compare. Bush was a Progressive and that was bad enough, Obama is a full blown Socialist.

The problem is that since each instance of this type of spending is a distinct response to a distinct economic.
In addition, gov't intervention like this has not failed every time.
It is only conservative ideological bigotry that assumes that the policies are destructive. My own opinion is that Obama's policies are way too conservative anyway

Policies like Obama's have failed the people every time, They have never brought about prosperity or liberty for the people. They have always augmented government and destroyed private wealth.
Conservative ideological bigotry.... interesting theory.
You've really peaked my interest now. I have heard a lot of people that agree with Obama, but you are the first to say that he is too conservative. What would you like to see him do? What policies would you like to see him put into place? If he is too conservative, who would be your ideal president?

Excellent. A failed presidency can be defined in many ways. And a failed presidency does not mean a failed America. If his economic policies slow growth and stifle innovation (which they will) he won't see a second term. Let's hope that conservative policy makers and politicians have a united message by then and are ready and WILLING to be true to the values of their constituents. They have a lot of work to do between now and then.
