Divorce Court?

The Professor

makes some assumptions, but I don't think his breakdown of the splits is accurate, if it were to ever come to that.

It may come down to it...

...I'm one of those stubborn optimists, though. I'm hoping that we, as a nation will snap out of this trance we're in. DD

Craw

I agree with you, he obviously is biased, especially on his predictions for Alaska. I dont envy them trying to take that one back if they try, lots of weapons up there with people who know how to use them and are not afraid to do so.

I may not have expressed my point well enough, but I meant to say I do not see a light at the end of the tunnel with the animosities we are seeing. JMO though.

DD

Yes, I too hope for that, as my last sentence indicated. Lets hope you are right.

A Russian expert on America?

This is like saying that the same socialist pacifists who have ruined our economy, tried to dis our military and downgraded our corporations are experts at liberty and freedom. The real divorce is between the Blue and Red values. All Americans think they want a prosperous nation, but so many unproductive ones now think the Govt. has all the answers and they are in the Blue states with Dem masters who play them like a violin. Still, even the faux Messiah would have to defend the USA against Iran, Russia, China, N.Korea if they struck the USA. At least we hope so. If not, he would be impeached. This character can only be believed by liberals who hate the fact that conservatives still exist. If only we all could be European socialists, eating at nice wine a brie outdoors cafes and allowing all immigrants to drain us, then this Rooskie would be satisfied. Frankly, if he broke his neck, that would be the best prediction I could make!!!

Rackoons

You make many very good points that I totally agree with.

I do NOT agree with most of what that Professor said, just the part about our break up IF things continue as they have been. Lets hope it never comes to that, but be prepared if it should happen.

The Russian prof is clearly delusional,

Dean D. A USA break-up/divorce is problematic because a property settlement is impossible. Think Jewish Israelis living in the hills of Palestinian territory and Palestinians commuting to work in Israel. For one, that's where the land is; for the other, that's where the job is.

Maybe Texas could secede and become sufficiently unpalatable that resident liberals/leftists and socialists/fascists would move out. Maybe the Northeast, including New England (so DC, Maryland, Delaware, Northern Virginia (DC Metro), New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont, and New Hampshire) could become a liberal/leftist exclusive USA zone, though unable to secede.

A marital truce is impossible . . . I hope. So, it's a war of ideas and ideologies. I plan to have true conservatism, the rule of law, the U.S. Constitution; all of it, prevail. It will not be pretty.

We are indeed split, fragmented,

polarized and in utter discord as a country. And I believe it will take nothing short of Divine Intervention to heal the wounds; but I'm not at all sure that that will take place given that so many of our "citizens" are rabid about pushing God out of the world he created and owns and so many of the others are too apathetic to get off their hands, stand up and speak up for God and country. I think God may just use Obama, the economic downturn, weather disasters, etc. to knock us on our heads and bring us to attention.

I got off track a mite.......I just grieve over our country and the route it's taking. I think it leads to a not so good destination.

Good post Dean.

Mark Twain

"News of my demise is greatly exaggerated" -- We must never underestimate the Sleeping Giant. Most definitely this is wishful thinking on part of the Professorskovitch and so many others who wish to destroy us and our culture. Those who miss the no longer existing Soviet Union are trying to appeal and to sew doubts of our sovereignty, calling out for anarchy. Trying times abound but this is the least of our worries. When the chips are down, can we defeat Islamofacism, terrorism? I pray we do!

Take heart in our history

"I hold that in contemplation of universal law and of the Constitution the Union of these States is perpetual. Perpetuity is implied, if not expressed, in the fundamental law of all national governments. It is safe to assert that no government proper ever had a provision in its organic law for its own termination. Continue to execute all the express provisions of our National Constitution, and the Union will endure forever, it being impossible to destroy it except by some action not provided for in the instrument itself."
...
" Physically speaking, we can not separate. We can not remove our respective sections from each other nor build an impassable wall between them. A husband and wife may be divorced and go out of the presence and beyond the reach of each other, but the different parts of our country can not do this. They can not but remain face to face, and intercourse, either amicable or hostile, must continue between them. Is it possible, then, to make that intercourse more advantageous or more satisfactory after separation than before? Can aliens make treaties easier than friends can make laws? Can treaties be more faithfully enforced between aliens than laws can among friends? Suppose you go to war, you can not fight always; and when, after much loss on both sides and no gain on either, you cease fighting, the identical old questions, as to terms of intercourse, are again upon you."

Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

I agree, any kind of dissolution would be a logistical nightmare. Where do you draw the lines, who goes where? Lets hope it never comes to that.

Bobbie

Thank you, I also grieve for our country. It is being stolen from us by dishonesty and subterfuge.

Let us hope someone can think of a way to bring all of our fractured factions to the table for some workable compromise.

I personally refuse to abide by a socialist/marxist society. That is not they kind of society I want to live in. I'm not sure what alternatives I'm left with. I will continue to pray for guidance.

My biggest fear

is that the Messiah will dramaticly overstep his constitutional authority. After all, he is on record as saying the Constitution is an inpediment to what "needs" to be done. We are as devided now as in any time since the Civil War. Strip away the things that make us great (capitalism, our system of government etc.),and the unfathemable can suddenly become reality.

dawndawn

It is ironic, I participated in a very small way in the Cold War against the USSR. Now I see their ideology taking over my own country from within. I don't believe the KGB Professors predictions but do see hints of trouble if we go beyond 4 years of socialistic government.

We are fighting an ideological war on many fronts, I hope we can find the faith to sustain us and triumph. Freedom is neither Free nor a Right as some believe. Our citizens have been spoiled with unearned freedom for the last generation or so. Should we lose it, it will be from apathy and complacency.

Wasn't Samuel Clemens one incredibly wise old codger? I love ALL his writings, especially his political prose.

Saltwater

Thank you for sharing those quotes from President Lincoln. I must say he was our greatest statesman and orator in my opinion. Such eloquence in such a time of strife is rare indeed.

I do honestly hope we can find a resolution to our differences in this country. We face entirely too many external threats to our existence to be squabbling internally.

Contrary to how my post ended up sounding, I am not advocating a civil war. I just do not see much hope in resolving our philosophical difference between right and left in an amicable manner. I have always been a "Live and let live" sorta guy, it is hard to do so when so much that you find incredibly offensive is shoved upon you. The opposition, leftist to the extreme preach tolerance but they sure as h*ll do not practice it.

EJR

I hope the messiah DOES try to circumvent the Constitution. That would give us legal, moral and ethical grounds to toss his butt off our capital grounds. Until he does so we will have to wait and resist as best we can. If they start messing with our Constitution all bets are off though.

May God Help Us If We Fail

And may the leaders of our military have presence of mind enough to muster our troops backs in, face out on our borders and tell the rest of the world to mind their own business while we take of a few internal problems ourselves.
My fear is that the rest of the world will try to take advantage of us while we are so divided.

Dean D.

Thanks for the recognition on VBushmill's comments. It was there that I was inspired to not be quite so polite.

I almost ran out of variations of Ivan. Hehehe...

Peace only follows VICTORY!

http://gumballs.blogtownhall.com/2008/09/08/the_lenses_thro ugh_which_individuals_see_their_world_revised.thtml

There are only three reasons for any occasion of bipartisanship between a Liberal and a Conservative: (1) The item on the table is inconsequential and trivial; (2) at least one has completely foregone principle and fundamental values; and/or (3) reelection time is approaching. There can be, and often is, bipartisanship between “Moderates” and anyone else.

It is, I think, noteworthy that it is liberal democrats who are consistently calling on conservative republicans to be “bipartisan” rather than the other way around. First, what is meant here by “bipartisan” is the republican coming over to agree with the democrats’ position and view. Second, it is consistent with the liberals’ view that wayward people are improvable, even perfectible, that disarmament is achievable and that war can be eliminated . . . through dialog. “Can’t we all just get along . . . by seeing it and doing it my way, the right, I mean correct, way?”

It is, I think, also noteworthy that republicans repeatedly believe that being “bipartisan” seems reasonable and sounds like a good thing. They also seem to believe repeatedly that, if they are “bipartisan”, democrats will respond in kind with cooperation. But, a liberal is a liberal is a liberal. They confidently look through liberal lenses, knowing that they are right, mean correct, and that republicans in general, and conservatives in particular, are dead wrong and just don’t get it.

Some of your commentators are getting lost in questioning Panarin's motives and idological orientation. That's the small picture. The bigger, more alarming panorama is based on whether or not the factors Panarin has identified as culprits in U.S. decline do, in fact, have the potential to be fatal. You have argued that they do, and I completely agree with you.

In the old movie "A Man For All Seasons," Paul Scovil, the actor playing Sir Thomas Moore is in a heated argument with his future son-in-law Will Roper. Roper states that he would tear down every law in England to get after the devil. Then Moore asks him to where he will run for safety when the devil turns 'round on him. The parallel is striking. We can continue to erode the constitutional (moral) foundations of law in America for only so long before "all things are permitted," no one is protected and the concept of law itself has lost all utility. At some juncture in that process a flashpoint will occur -- a time when too many long-silent Americans say "emough." And what could follow is truly to be feared.

Thanks for stopping by my blog on the same topic. The conclusion to that piece will appear later today.

Buck

I agree with you totally. I dont believe in isolationalism, but we need to mind our own backyard first and foremost.

Glenn

I knew what was up after studying VB's post.

Muuuuuuuwaaaahahahaha!

Great Job, schmuck was silent for quite some time there. I'm learning and will be jumping in more after I read VB's updated post.

DrPete

Great comments and "spot on"!

Only delusional people can actually believe you can talk beligerants out of war successfully.

On Bipartisanship, it sure is funny how childish the libs can be about this, rather it would be funny if it was not such a serious problem. I think conservatives still try to be honorable and have some integrity while neither concept is accepted or used by liberals.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I am glad you were able to see the main point to my post.

I did not word my position very well and have learned a valuable lesson about hastily posting on a blog. I should have taken more time to elaborate MY position on the subject and not let the KGB Professor's comments overwhelm the article.

I'll stop by your blog later and catch up. Thanks!

divorce

I was just laughing to myself as I read your excellent post and the comments...picturing a divorce where we had to divide the country up into sections.
Liberal .East coast and west coast
Conservative Whole middle and south of the country.
Not sure how the Liberals would run a country divided by that much conservatism, but fun to imagine them trying. Heck they don't know or understand the middle of the country anyway.
But then there are the Progressives and the Neo-Cons and the far-right Cons. The country would be divided into too many parts to exist.

Ok seriously, we are headed for some degree of Socialism for the next 4 to 8 years and we may scream and yell but we will have to live with it. Whether what happens is enough to cause a rebellion or not remains to be seen. Maybe the majority of people will like it enough to have it become permanent, esp. as the older generation leaves and the newer generations, taught by liberals in government schools come to think it is the normal state of affairs.
I probably won't be around to see the outcome, but I wish you all the best. I hope the country makes it.

Emjayne

Thank you for the kind words. I see from your comments you also see the difficulties we face. We are darned if we do and darned if we dont.

I dont know what the answers are, but that KGB Professor's comments certainly raise some questions on outside influences.

Thanks again for stopping by and adding to our discussion.

Nor do I believe in Isolationism.
Isolationism is what feudal Japan practiced before Perry.

I do not believe we are being isolationist should we cease giving American tax dollars to every halfassed dictator that comes with hand out.

Nor do I believe in "Protectionism".
At the same time I do not believe it is protectionism should the government impose a recripocal tax on imports from countries that impose excessive import tax on American goods.

I do not believe it is isolationism to allow other countries the practice of customs unfamiliar to us.

Nor is it meddling to support with all our resources threatned countries who would support us in our time of peril. (On that note it is beginning to look like the ANZACS and not many else).

Buck

I agree with your statements completely.

Concerning ANZACS, I had the distinct pleasure to spend a month in Australia traveling around their lovely country in 2003. I never once recieved anything except a kind word from an Aussie. They have the same dilema as we have, most of the Liberal population being focused in their coastal cities and the conservatives being in the outback country. I see the ANZACS as our only true friends at this time. Bless em.

You're reminding me of

a ten-year-old conversation.

My history teacher during high school made the term 'the South will rise again' her catchphrase. I never paid that much attention (maybe I should have - in my defense, I was an ignorant teenager at the time), but now, I suspect I understand the jist of the statement - the government had intervened to much since that time (postbellum to present) and continued to do so; one day that would (or perhaps -will-) be reversed in a rather drastic manner.

What you're describing isn't quite the same thing as what I recall of her, but I can see it sparking that particular keg of powder quite easily.

I agree that the blue-staters won't allow us (red-staters, or conservatives in general) to leave if they can stop us: as you noted, they need us too much. Not just for our taxes, but so they can have someone to sneer down at as well.

U.S. will fall apart in 2010.

Most countries have fallen apart after a time. The USSR certainly did and now the old pieces of the Union work better.

I have no problem seceding from the union or expelling CA and MA. We could annex CA to Mexico. The gold is gone anyway.

Dividing up and going into separate camps is a good idea except the left will starve and come at us with guns and such and try to start a 'revolution' and get at our loot.

The left have nothing but spite for success and it is too bad that they won't go away. Cuba has lots of room for lefties--so does North Korea and Africa.

I will pay for 1 one-way ticket for any leftie who wants to leave if they [1] renounce their citizenship in writing and [2] burn their passports when they land and [3] if they agree to live in some 3rd world rat hole.

Irreconcilable Differences

There are too many differences between the conservative and liberal mindsets to allow for this marriage to continue peaceably. The only amicable solution is divorce.

I see no reason today, as opposed to in 1860, why an amicable split from the union could not be attained. Without the false blame of something like slavery to cause armed revolution, I see no reason why two nations with opposing social and political views could not be formed by this one nation.

Originally, we were the united States of America, States being the operative word, with united being a lower case. Each state was just that, an independent state that was guaranteed a republican form of government. The fact that we were a united group is no different that the European Union is today. Any member of that union can at their discretion, leave the union, and our union is no different.

If for example, Texas declared its right to re-establish as the Republic of Texas, it would be within its right to do so. At least, that's my understanding of the way things are.

Ender

Had the British troops reached the armory that April morning, perhaps the American Revolution would have failed. Or perhaps there would have been no revolution. But they were stopped and the rest is history.

The enemies of freedom are trying to outflank the American people by not grabbing our guns but they will try to get our ammunition.

Watch for bill to come up in congress putting all sorts of restrictions on ammunition and, eventually, the banning of first one kind and then the other of ammunition they deem a threat to their rule and control over the American people.

Ender

"Not just for our taxes, but so they can have someone to sneer down at as well."

I like that statement, it is so dead on the money.

Things are going to get ugly in this country in the near future. Let us pray not too ugly.

Ryck

"I will pay for 1 one-way ticket for any leftie who wants to leave if they [1] renounce their citizenship in writing and [2] burn their passports when they land and [3] if they agree to live in some 3rd world rat hole."

I endorse this plan completely. Implementing it may be a bit difficult though.

Something that will complicate the issue if it comes to a divorce is the fact that the current state boundaries do not delineate political differences. For instance, Washington state is whacko liberal for the most part on the west side of the Cascade Mt. range. To the east of the Cascades are predominantly conservatives.

There was an excellent map of our country somewhere on the net that showed ALL counties in the country by their vote this last election. The ONLY blue counties on the map had large cities or universities within their boundaries. I wish I had saved that map for future reference.

A Divorce Scenario

The American Revolution began when the British marched to sieze the colonists' gunpowder.
The Civil War began when the South tried to remove Federal Troops from Southern soil at Fort Sumpter.

The "Divorce" of which we theorize, will probably start in some way resembling the following:

The congress, which becomes more socialist and pro-welfare recipient with each election, will pass, and the president will sign into law some instrument contrary to the Constitution. When that law is flaunted, the enforcer of unconstitutional lae i.e. US Attorney General will send out the Enforcers of Unconstitutional Law, or, the Alphabet Agencies. The American people, remembering Waco and Ruby Ridge, will, this time, confront the alphabet agencies before they have overwhelmed their targeted "lawbreakers". This confrontation may or may not end violently but its ultimate outcome will be the occupation of all federal buildings and the expelling of all federal agencies and employees. Military bases and Air Traffic facilities will probably not be tuched as Posse Comitatus will govern the one and necessity the other. I do believe when the political government asks the military for intervention the military will refuse.
Just a scenario. Of what might happen.

Dean

I would love to see that map! It is not surprising that having a university in an area will lead to a liberal atmosphere.

Speaking of wanting to give free tickets out...the atheists are complaining about the prayers and oath in the inauguration and I'd like to give them free tickets to anywhere they will not feel "offended"!!

It is so tiresome to be ruled by such a small minority in this country...the atheists want to run things their way and the homosexuals want to run things their way!! How about if the majority runs things!! Then anyone who gets "offended" by what is going on can just leave!

Buck

Yes, ammunition is their target to disarm us. The legislation to do so is already in play in 18 states. If anyone disbelieves this fact they can check out this website:

http://www.ammunitionaccountability.org/

I have confirmed that legislation is on the books here in Washington state, currently held in the judiciary committee.

God Bless Samuel Colt and bullet molds!

Emjayne

I will try to locate that map, it's on the net somewhere.

I wish I was rich, or moderately so anyway. I would personally file a lawsuit against the guy who keeps filing the atheist law suits against prayer. HE OFFENDS ME in the EXTREME and is doing me emotional harm just from the mental anguish I experience every time I read about his law suits. Anyone know of a lawyer who would file my case pro bono?

Dean

I have exactly the same reaction when that
$^$$#@@@!@ comes on and starts these suits.
A visceral reaction that is bad for my health!!
It would be great if you could find a lawyer who would take that case! My feeling is a buggy whip would be a good substitute!!!

Dean

Thank you for getting those maps~!! I didn't expect you to go to extra trouble!!
It reminds me of my husband through the years. I had to watch out what I said I'd like because he'd get mad if he couldn't get it.
I often said I didn't dare admire the moon or he would have had an attack! LOL
But thanks!

Emjayne

Yepper. Funny how he can be offended by God but I should not be offended by him pushing his beliefs on me.

I do not have the where-with-all to file such a suit, but if anyone needs an additional plaintiff to add to the suit I am more than willing to sign on.

Emjayne

Your entirely welcome. Besides, it was germane to the discussion and easily found via a google search.

Your husband must be a heck of a guy. =) =)

dean

Yes, husband is something else. 61 years in Feb.

Emjayne

Belated congratulations on your 60th anniversary!!!

That is a milestone rarely seen these days. Best wishes on your upcoming 61st in case I miss the date. =)

Dean

:-) Thank you in advance! :-))

Divorce

Why our country is split is because of the loss of the ability to discern Truth...If we keep on putting the info out it's got to drop on some of the dumb-struck when things start to fall apart.

New Age Teachings are the root of the problem...it frees Democrats up to do as they please...however if they think Islam is going to share they are gravely mistaken.

Cindy

You are sharing some truth in your statements above. New age philosophies are like fast food, they have no substance and do not sustain.

As for Islam, if it were not so sad what will happen if they come into control over the bleeding hearts I would laugh. The first negotiators are in for a very very rude awakening if they think they will be able to sit down and talk things over.
