Thanks for posting another wonderful Psalm.
My friend, I'm embarrassed to ask this question, but here goes : I'll be referring to Psalm 19, Psalm 119 {118}, and others. Considering the time that the Psalmist wrote, and today 2009, what are the statutes, precepts, and laws to which the Psalmist refers?
I like to pray Psalm 119{118} and there are many references to things like "teach me Thy laws and statutes and precepts". Can you help mr here, Chiefest? Sorry for the bother.

Ed, you're no bother at all; I only hope to help you with the "word fitly spoken".
God's laws, statutes, and precepts are, in effect, timeless. We learn of the expectations and the will of God through them. One might ask how this is so, since we obviously don't sacrifice animals anymore (a component of the Law) and do such like things. What we must realize is that the law is fulfilled in Christ, but it is still a good subject, because, as Paul said;
Galatians 3:24
Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
I take this to mean that we can still learn of God, and the ways of God, through study of the law, His statutes, and precepts, even though the handwriting of the ordinances were done away with in Christ (Colossians 2:14).
Just know that if we are truly serious, God will give us what He would have us to know, but we must seek Him with the whole heart (Jeremiah 29:13; Luke 11:10).
I hope this helps, if not let me know, and I'll try again.

Thank you, my friend.
To be honest, I was looking at things like the sermon on the Mt., and the two Great Commandments : loving God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength, and loving our neighbor as ourselves. Thanks, again, for your help.

sorry I misunderstood
Maybe I misunderstood your question.
Of course, The Sermon on the Mount defines the doctrine Jesus taught. He also said the law and the prophets hang on the two commandments that you mention. Paul said it again, in Romans, when he said love is the fulfilling of the law, because love worketh no ill to his neighbor (Rom 13).
The Word also tells us of the Comforter, who will bring all the words of Jesus to our rememberance (John 14:26).
I thought the references to the OT law in psalms were of particular interest.

OT Law in Psalms
Chiefest, my dear friend, my question(s) were worded rather poorly. I was interested in what the laws, statutes, and precepts were that the Psalmist was referring to (which I assumed, maybe incorrectly, was the Mosaic law).
And then I was wondering what these laws, statutes, and precepts would be for us, in 2009. I really like that Psalm 119{118} but I just don't know how to apply it today (if that makes any sense at all). Thanks again, my friend.

OT Law in 2009
In Psalms, all David could be referring to is the Mosaic Law. Paul said it was a "schoolmaster" to bring us to Christ and by it was the knowledge of sin, David said by it "thy servant is warned". Similar if you think about it.
In 2009, IMO it is still good to consider it, though Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.
As I stated, we can learn of God by studying the OT Law, because the Bible said that God doesn't change; therefore His "personality" or what He expects should be apparent in what He has required before.
For example, if the Law was fulfilled, the Ten Commandments would be fulfilled or would they? They would be included in the two great commandments of Jesus you mentioned before. However, we can still consider them to determine what God expects; He still expects us to not steal, murder, dishonor our parents, etc.
Put another way, Jeremiah spoke for God, when he prophesied:
Jeremiah 31:33
...I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
The Word also says the "righteousness" of the Law is fulfilled in us, who walk after the Spirit and not the flesh (Rom 8:4). In Galatians 5, the works of the flesh and the Spirit are contrasted.
Hope I'm helping.
BTW, I'm not going to have computer access during the week for a while, starting Monday. So you'll see I will only post on the weekends. Work related.

You are indeed helping, and I'm most grateful.
I always appreciate your Scripture references, although, to be honest, I still don't understand all of them. I keep praying The Spirit to guide and enlighten me.
Thanks for mentioning Galatians (I'm actually a descendant of the Galatians and Paul was quite aware that we can be a cantankerous {quarrelsome} group).
I will miss your posts, my dear friend. I really will! I thank you again for all your help.

Ed, I pray the hunger of the Word would overwhelm you, and that the Word would come alive in you; infusing every thought and action to the glory of Almighty God.
I appreciate your kind words and prayers.
