Is it all about the values?

After watching Univision yesterday the Republican Candidates did not answer questions about the issues that are important not only to Hispanics but to all US Citizens, not only did they not address the questions honestly, but most of them came across as insensitive and misinformed about the plight of the Immigrant and other issues. I have become convinced that I do not want to continue being a registered Republican voter. I have decided that I will re-register as an independent. Today I called the Clark County Republican Party offices to let them know how I felt, only to be hung up by their media relations person. She did call back more than 15 minutes later to say the line had "disconnected" and to apologize. Well, sorry for her and for the Republican Party in Nevada and all over the nation. I believe my dismay echoes the dismay of many discerning voting Hispanics, who see the Party, their candidates and pundits as anti-immigrant and anti-hispanic, although not all immigrants are hispanic. I am smart enough to know Dems are equally bad, but at least I know that as an independent, I will not be taken for granted by either party. If they want my vote, they will have to earn it.
