VIETNAM, IRAQ THE MIDDLE EAST AND THE DEATHS OF CRONKITE AND MCNAMARA

GUNNY

History has done that. The Right side of history.

A distinct possibility and

point well made Apollo "the Middle East is likely to suffer the fate of South East Asia*** when American forces pulled out of Vietnam and left chaos behind."

A possibility I've wondered about much for the last 6 or several years, knowing that the day would eventually come that the congress would cut and run.

R E

You've nailed it. With "cut and run" Democrats controlling the White House and Congress, and Obama ready to withdraw our ground forces not just from Iraq but the entire Middle East, it's difficult to be optimistic about the future of Iraq.

Other factors in Vietnam

We turned on a WWII ally--the leader of N. Vietnam

We initially tried to help the French maintain dominion over the Vietnamese

We then tried to maintain the rule of a brutal monarchy.

We broke the Geneva Accords by taking over the issue ourselves and trying to dictate what S. Vietnam should do.

We hyperventilated over the domino theory.

We contributed to the deaths of millions of S. Vietnamese civilians.

And for what?

We lost no freedoms as a result of losing the Vietnam war. But we tragically lost 58,000 troops.

Excuse me but it was the

democrat congress that refused funding to the military and caused hundreds of thousands of innocent freedom loving South Vietnamese people to be slaughtered, some made it to the shores of America, which at the time were called the shores of freedom, that is the subject of this article, how dare you say WE caused this, WE the People have never vote on the side of death, only the democrat party does this offensive act ie abortion.
Richard Nixon begged congress for just a few measly thousand dollars and was refused because he was Republican and hated by the so called I feel your pain dems, he brought the unfunded troops home and despicable hippie, commies that should have been shot did what no true American would do to those men who served with honor.
Later due to the magnificence of Ronaldus Magnus Reagan we did not lose the Vietnam war, he used the fact that the USSR had depleted it's military reserves and monies fighting the USA in Vietnam and Korea to help them go bankrupt and tear down that wall. The fact is the USSR could not survive without America, the bread basket of the world, providing the food that we send to Russia even as cold hearted and hateful as you see America, we simply are not.
All these things he did by trusting Americans and free enterprise, cutting taxes and removing as much govt intervention into the personal, private and business lives of WE the People as he could.
We are this day losing freedoms as we have since the 70's due to the likes of kennedy, kerry, biden, frank, dodd and just about any dem rep and or senator you care to mention today.
So in closing you know not what you speak of just like your savior osama bin obama hasn't a clue.

RE

You forget the slaughter we participated in before and you forget that violence begets violence. If we had not intervened in Vietnam, then there is a good chance that there wouldn't be the slaughter you spoke of. When you vote for war, you vote for abortions because many unborn children die as a result of war.

Finally, Ronald Reagan and Vietnam and Korea?

RE: EXCELLENT!

You've done your homework and know the truth that our setback in Vietnam proved to be a huge unintended factor in bringing down the Evil Empire and breaking the back of International Communism.

REFUTATIONS ON VIETNAM

My reply:

After the war Ho Chi Menh joined forces with our former ally turned enemy Joseph Stalin.

We initially tried to help the French maintain dominion over the Vietnamese

My reply:

Only as a bulwark against Communist aggression and expansionism.

We then tried to maintain the rule of a brutal monarchy.

My reply:

We did no different during WW II when we supported the brutal mass murdering autocrat Joseph Stalin.

We broke the Geneva Accords by taking over the issue ourselves and trying to dictate what S. Vietnam should do.

My reply:

The North Vietnamese broke the accords by creating and supporting the Vietcong using them as a lethal weapon to destroy the South..

We hyperventilated over the domino theory.

My reply:

Which proved to be a valid theory. Hence the fall of Laos and Cambodia once we retreated from Vietnam. If we has retreated earlier or never opposed North Vietnam Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines.

We contributed to the deaths of millions of S. Vietnamese civilians.

My reply:

The mass killing of civilians in South Vietnam by the North and the Viet Cong predated our military involvement in Vietnam.

And for what?

My reply:

For the noble cause of anti-Communism a war that we won under Ronald Reagan and with no little help from our setback in Vietnam.

We lost no freedoms as a result of losing the Vietnam war. But we tragically lost 58,000 troops.

My reply:

South Vietnam lost its freedom and millions died across South East Asia when the Democratic Congress broke our promise with the South and deserted them to Communist aggression. And now it seems that we are about to repeat this shameful history in Iraq and the Middle East.
