What's Not Being Disclosed On Obamacare

RE Not being disclosed
I can see how the AARP benefits, because with a public health care system available, it makes sense for the public to take advantage of publicly subsidized heathcare first, and then buy supplemental coverage if one can afford it to cover whatever the government will not. If you can't afford supplemental coverage, at least you still have a basic goverment plan. That is the situation in any other developed country besides the USA. And by the way the people living in those contries think they have a much better healthcare system than we do. The majority of Americans don't have any heathcare coverage because they can't afford it - and even those who can afford it find it's a great hassle to deal with insurance companies. It's hard for me to belive that most people would be any worse off with health insurance when the status quo is no preventative healthcare whatsoever.
The #1 reason for poverty and bankruptsy in this contry is medical bills due to lack of insurance coverage. The # 1 reason for lack of insurance coverage is an inability to pay for it due to poverty... etc. the current situation - a for-profit heath industry, is a self-fufilling prophecy of wealthy profits for insurace companies and doctors, at the expense of poor health and poor financial situation for the majority of the public.

Sorry...You Are Wrong
Sorry you are wrong, and wonder how old you actually are. The reason health insurance is unaffordable is because of the reasons I listed in the article, the huge lawsuits with no lids on punitives that were removed, and absolutely no regulation of these insurers that sell national and globally - they were all coops at one point and not at all "for profit" businesses until Congress allowed them to also invest in other areas in high risk investments, and diversify to the point now where they are huge conglomerates and profit it their only motivation.
They subsist on public monies and are actually public corporations and thus there should be strict regulation.
And as I said, if the government has the final word on treatment, most of those supplemental plans will never have to pay anything anyway. I have elderly parents, and they have a supplemental AARP plan to Medicare, but Medicare has the say on whether they receive the care or not, and the doctors use their schedules in order to determine treatment.
And the governmental plan has no provisions whatsoever for "preventative" care as you seem to believe, and supplemental plans that are sold in addition to Medicare don't either, and are very expensive also to boot.
The reason that doctor fees and charges also have gone up is because of the loans and such they need to now take out to get their educations, tuition that has risen that bears also no resemblance to cost, or the cost of living.
For the banker profits once again. Those branches of the Federal Reserve that claimed bankruptcy, yet print the money?
What rock have you been living under the last ten years - or are you merely a young adult that has no idea of the history of this progressive travesty that was Congressionally created to begin with?

P.S. Also, With Respect to Bankruptcies
Also, with respect to the bankruptcies and such, since most of those hospitals and health care networks also get state or federal grant monies to begin with in order to build some of those hospitals through public/private partnerships, then what is needed is regulation of their charges also......since nowhere is the fact that much of their infrastucture and buildings have been taxpayer paid.
In essence, these are shell corportions, with the taxpayers paying all those costs, or at least being billed by the Fed for all those costs also.

#1 Cause of Poverty
No, the #1 cause of poverty is actually the government.

And Finally....
And finally.....if you think health care should be socialized now at the federal level (since it is already in every state in this country in one way or another), then start petitioning your state legislature to propose a Constitutional amendment in order to so do.
Because bottom line the federal government has no inherent right or authority to legislate this health care reform to begin with.

What this woman is sayng is that Seniors do not deserve and more importantly have paid for and therefore have not earned medical discounts and rebates after paying for the priviledge for a lifetime. This lady needs a checkup from the neck up. I am 63 and have paid sooo much for sooo long, I deserve a "rebate". I do not know your age - but your time will come.

Response to Bob
I'm 59, and as I said your health care would be much less expensive if the government was going its job, rather than getting in bed with the abusers.
And the legislation in its current form is unconstitutional. Right now you can choose the level of care you wish. That is your choice, and if you feel you have been taken advantage of by the health care providers, Obama's plan doesn't place any future lids on that care either.
And look what they've done with Medicare.
And AARP is not a senior advocacy group at all, simply a group of trade organizations and providers that market to seniors.
And equality means the elderly receive no more benefits than the young insofar as taxpayer paid costs - what is needed is reduction of the sums for all in reversing what lead to this so that it is affordable once again, and those insurers are accountable.
And you don't think Big Daddy is going to not hire insurance actuaries and provide their care at the lowest cost possible - and as primary care giver then also determine who lives and dies.
And what a political tool this could be in the future and weapon. And why should those that don't believe in invasive medical treatments subsidize yours?
You truly are ego centered, since I am not that much younger, and can see that the entire focus in how this is being approached is wrong, wrong, wrong.
