Anthony. Specify these Con values...
Your post was reassuring to a limited degree.
We have luxuriated in the knowledge that no one cares sufficiently to demand of us that we enumerate and elucidate these "values." I include myself in this comfortable status of being "Conservative" in broad, sweeping generalities. I learned long ago that the preacher who defines Jesus as trashing the wine instead of making it soon stands in the unemployment line.
Recently, I accepeted the challenge to show my "hole' card and articulate my "Conservastive Values."
With no intention to be impertinent, I request a simple list of the "values" upon which the Denver Conservatives expect to find common ground with agnostics or post Christian Conservatives. I face the same problem.
Stating my ten priorities led to the same fate as that enjoyed by Judge Moore.
Ever fallen from "hale fellow well met" to troglodyte in one evening?

Good observation!
Klemkadiddle - thanks for your candid and sobering observations. I have never had the same experience you did - but I have been publically derided on occassion. There are areas of agreement to be found - I saw that last night. Whether this agreement is too general or not, for me it is too early to tell. It takes a lot of work to help people see and share the truly pertinent values. The example of John Paul II gives me courage. Throughout his life, he engaged communists, agnostics and atheists in deep conversations and secured agreement with them on many important matters. Poland is an example where such conversations lead to a thriving society of strong values. I am confident that people of faith, like yourself, have something dynamic to offer their fellow Americans along these lines - It was good you showed your cards even if they did not like your hand.
