Why we SHOULD NOT get Osama Bin Laden

why we shouldn't get Osama Bin Laden

The chasing this man all over the desert wasting time and money and not getting the job done. Lets just take care of the job at hand and LEAVE. I did 8 yrs USMC and I feel enough is enough our country and its people need all of us to take care of home. ie.... this country needs to start and progress in its ability to make its own power we can why not. Too many lives wasted for what? really

Re: Charles comment

Charles: Thanks for responding.

I understand your frustration, but ignoring the problem and "leaving" hasn't worked in the past...which is how we got into this situation in the first place. We can't "take care of home" if we allow those who wish to destroy, to plot, train and execute attacks on us or our vital interests. As far as "wasting" lives over there...if we are not willing to sacrifice for our way of life, it won't exist at all. Our way of life comes at a price...and it is paid for in blood; and no amount of money can prevent it. Our experiment in democracy is a journey, not a goal to be achieved. So, are you willing to give up our way of life to prevent Servicemen and women from dying in defense of our country? That is the real question you need to answer, but if you don't look at the "big picture," you cannot reach a real answer.

We shouldn't get Osama

It is an interesting point of view and I understand the pros of letting him stay in hiding, but since he was responsible for 9/11 we need to bring him to justice. Yes it is true that many brave men and women have served and sacrificed the ultimate price, but that does not make it no longer worth it. Imagine if we would have given up finding Hitler or defeating Japan in WWII what would our way of life be then?

Re: Conservative Educator comment

First, I want to thank you for your interest and comment to my post. Like you, I would like to see an "end game" to this conflict, but getting Osama Bin Laden would not take the tens of thousands of active insurgents, terrorists and militiamen, out of the fight; but in fact, motivate them to continue the fight for many years to come. Without the full commitment of the international community, especially the nations of Southwest Asia, this war will drag on and our national security and vital interests will continue to be at stake. Getting Bin Laden should be the last thing we do. And to to correct your statement that he was the mastermind behind 9/11, the actual mastermind was Khalid Sheik Mohammed and he has been in custody for several years. Osama Bin Laden is on the "spiritual leader" and assists operatives with funding, political influence, etc. As for comparing the defeat of Germany and Japan during World War II...there is no comparison. We were fighting nations, not a loose organization that is spread throughout the world and hiding among the civilian population. Different times, different circumstances, different fighting tactics. Thanks again for the comment.
