Thank you, Patrick, for the visit and the kind words. I stopped by your blog and I can see we will have much to discuss as time goes on.

One thing, you've shown me just how impressive a blog entry can be made. I'm new to this, even though I have extensive experience with computers, I've kind of stayed away from the blogs because I know what a time-sink they can be. I rode the early bulletin-board wave back when TRS-80s were the machine to have (I wrote the software for a few BBS's) and I know how much time I can spend here if I'm not careful! Then too, the filters at the high school where I teach won't allow me to get here while I'm there.

But yours is beautiful and I am greatly impressed. We don't agree on everything, but that will be the fun part!

Can I ask where you stand on some of the key issues of the day (life, property, gun ownership, etc.) What ideology would you consider yourself (doesn't have to be a one-word answer)? And where do you differ from the current Republican talking heads on various TV stations?

I started to answer you last night and ran out of time to respond and realized that there's no simple answer to your question.

My campaign has started. "A journey of a thousand miles begins with but a single step," or words to that effect. I have roughly two years to ramp up to victory.

Sooner or later I would have had to go through this exercise. I guess it might as well be sooner. But it should be in a post to the foru...uh...blog. I started today during my conference period and have over 1600 words so far and have just gotten up to abortion. (I hadn't realized the bio wasn't working. I'm a high school teacher during the day.)

It's going to take a little longer than I thought. Let me have a day or two and I'll post a complete (more or less) response that does your question justice.

For the moment, however, I'll tell you that I'm as conservative as Congressman Gonzales is liberal. There's one important further difference. I won't lie to you. If I can't tell you the truth, I'll say nothing, or I'll tell you I can't discuss "it."

As they used to say in my youth..."Film at eleven."
