Quick answer: he's a racist
Long answer:

1. He belongs to (and has been a member of) a "church" that is clearly just a racist organization. Did anyone watch the congregation members on TV?

2. His platform contains racial preference policies

3. His personal and spiritual advisor for 20 years has been a hate mongering nut who would be more appropriately placed as a cult leader rather than a "pastor".

4. His wife's little Freudian slip about "proud of this country for the first time" was the first crack in the facade.

Summary: He's a racist. He is nothing but a David Duke in blackface.
