Absurdities on Oil

Speculators

The Democrats are the speculators, they speculated they could kill off the economy and take over the government.Speculation is a zero sum game. If they win , we lost.

I am just getting sick of seeing even so called conservatives buying into this BS. I even saw someone claiming to have been a speculator.

I wanted to ask him how much oil, in what category, he had to buy to drive the world market up even a dime.

Yes, speculation, in the aggregate, can change the market, but there is no way some individual speculators are buying enough oil to drive the market. The market is massive.

This reminds me of the Hunt Brothers and their inability to corner a much smaller and less volatile market, yet the left (and now the right) is claiming somehow a much larger and much more volatile market is somehow being caused to increase price three to six times by simple speculation.

And at the same time they are simply dismissing the very simple supply and demand explanation.

I know it makes political sense for the politicians to have someone to blame and something to do, passing laws against "speculation", but why are voters buying it? Can't they see through the obvious lies?

They never learn

It shouldn't take a "rocket scientist" to understand the supply/demand equation. We keep increasing our demand while purposely hampering our domestic production. The result is more foreign oil (and sending those dollars to governments who aren't really very friendly) and more dependency on that foreign supply. That's no way to keep this country secure. We all know that it is pure politics - at the expense of national security. It is time to throw the bums out (Rinos included). Check out my blog "Pesky Truth" for some oil/Obama/idiot dems blogging. Cheers.

Thanks for the comment and welcome to the blog. (If you posted before and I forgot, my apologies. It is finally reaching the point where I have had enough comments that I can forget people and not be accused of senility.)

It always amazes me what lies can be told and believed. Even blatantly self-serving lies. The government takes a massive cut in taxes, impedes new exploration and infrastructure, and when it comes back to bite us, they blame whoever is at hand. "Big oil". "Speculators". If that doesn't work, then little green men or maybe the Israel Lobby. Whoever isn't them.

What amazes me is that some people buy into these self-serving lies.

Of course, oil seems to be the favorite realm for absurd theories. We saw it in the 70's too. The people who believed oil companies were "hoarding oil", because they had full tanks while they claimed there was a shortage. It was the 1970's favorite economically illiterate news story.

An d people ate it up.

I don't get it.
