Comment on: To My Way of Thinking

To Expect is to Expect Too Much

To expect...

"For me to sit in judgment on any other soul, living or dead, is wrong, a sin. To even presume I can do this would be me committing the sin of arrogance and pride. I have no right to tell another how they should live or whom they should love or not love, whether I agree with their choice or not."

Your words?

I do not deny you your right to speak your mind but, at least do not be hypocritical about it. Don't act holier than thou, all knowing with your young years of experience. It causes you to lose any credibility.

To expect, you bet!

Obviously, you have confused condemning individuals for the choices they make for their own lives, such as abortion, religions, or even whether or not to make a comment, with making observations about the level of maturity or lack thereof displayed by people as a whole.

Did I single you out? No. Did I single out one party over another? No. Did I make an observation? Yes. Do I have the right to wonder why people don't simply grow up and cling to intelligence and civility when faced with opposing views instead of degenerating into name calling or, even worse, ganging up on an individual like five-year-olds? You bet I have the right to point this out.

And I will continue to point out this kind of behavior as it affects all of us because that, too, is my right. Is it your right to call me a hypocrite or holier than thou? Go right ahead, but that only serves to underscore what I was saying--name calling achieves nothing and serves no one, yet there seems to be an inordinate amount of it going around.

For me to sit in judgment on your decision to call me names, I'm not and have not done that. You have the right. You also have the right to decide if what you wish to contribute to the discussion is mature or simply childish behavior. And in that, I let you be the judge.

Maturity is obviously subjective

Apparently you don't see the relevancy of your previous blog post. I did not call you names . I indicated you were acting holier than thou. I thought since you claimed to see more than anyone else you were wise enough to see the conflict of your two posts. I did not realize you were so overly sensitive that you could not see how the two conflict.Enjoy your delusions of grandeur. I will slink off to ponder life with the rest of my fellow mindless minions.

Subjective, yes, but I like it, too

So if you indicate I'm acting holier than thou, you're not in fact calling me that...huh?

LOL

Ok, and you don't see the argumentative tactic you're employing now. You're totally unaware of that.

I'm overly sensitive, am I? I should enjoy my delusion of grandeur.

Funny thing is, I know I'm no better than anyone, but you never asked me that. You just tell me what I am and then hit me with the touche--slinking off to ponder life with the rest of the mindless minions. Your words, not mine. I never called anyone anything, overly sensitive or whatever--I just think you all need to grow up.

Wow, winning at all costs sure must suck--at least in my humble opinion.

Well, hell, at least we're good for a laugh, eh?
