Government Complicity in Financial Crisis: More Harm than you Know

Greed

Greed is what lead the financial community to this point, not the government. Some of the smartest people in the word work on Wall Street, they knew exactly what they were doing and what the risks were...they have no on to blame but themselves...now as always, the tax payer has to pay to bail out some of these guys....

Another Dose of Reality

I agree that greed is involved, and on several levels, one being the greed that some people have to have something they haven't earned.

Support for this attitude pressured the government to in turn pressure and then allow the financial industry, through regulation, to offer low interest loans to undeserving customers.

Once unleashed from prior constraints, and threatened by lawsuits for alleged "red-lining", greed did indeed kick in, not only for the banks but for consumers also, who speculated far beyond their means.

There's plenty of blame to go around, and the government and consumers should not be exempted from it by those of use who acted sensibly.

and Envy ...

I should also add that Envy, the other face of greed, is also involved.
