One Problem. Didnt we hear that argument in 2006? How teaching the Party a lesson...Sending a message would result in our wining BACK Congress in 2008? LaAst I looked we didnt win it back! Last I heard we will not beable to Filibuster. Last I saw we have Obama as new President. So much for sending messages and teaching lessons.

No 'lessons' were learned by anyone that I can see, unless voting 3rd party or sitting at home was a lesson they were trying to teach on stubborness this year! That got them NOwhere!
Nothing is going to change until the conservatives make their voice heard! By becoming more involved, not sitting out an election, what does that say? "Apathy, I don't care, elect who you want." I guarantee you the Reps from my state write me back when I write to them.
I had one that I hadn't written to in a while write and ask what was on my mind, what do I see as an issue facing our state and our nation in the near future? I think he may be getting ready to run for governor instead of Senator, but I was still surprised.
They do want to know what the constituents want. This is why Obama changed his speech depending on who he was talking to and where. He was feeding them what they wanted to hear! I don't think you'll be 'eating your words.' Good Post and good defense!

LOL! You got that right! It takes real brains to get our opposition elected! We can always count on the "smart ones" to get the job done!

Hey Str8t!
Thanks...;)Seems we didn't do ourselves any favors, since we lost big time!
I've never understood the philosophy of "losing" to win!

It was BrianR who "roasted" you. I would never do that. You know how much I value your opinion. When we have run a real conservative we have done better than when we run a merlo-drinking moderate country clubber. How about a real conservative that drinks a real man's drink like Iced Tea. Again, thanks for the encouragement on the other issue, but I'm 36 time is running out. I know, I know, I should let thing happen as they happen.

Hey M!
Thanks, and I appreciate what you said at your place.
Not to worry... you have always been very kind...
I think it is so sad that conservatives are acting hateful like moveon.org and Coz. We should be above that kind of stuff...I have tried to agree to disagree, but have to admitt I did have to work at not "losing it" a few times...LOL
We won't ever win elections if we keep shrinking in numbers. We can't win with only conservatives. We have to expand our outreach or we will continue to lose...;)
I think is is so unfair the way many joined the left bashing Bush. We may live to regret that. We have been safe since 9-11, taxes have been low, we have stong conservatives on the Supreme Court, and yet the whinners just couldn't get past

that was "strong"...
and to continue...the whinners just couldn't get past their own agenda on a few issues, to actually do the right thing and vote for Mac, instead of turning the country over to the left...to me that is dangerous and selfish, as does Thomas Sowell.
Sorry to be so long winded, M!
And btw, you will make a great Dad.

The GOP is driving away...
...Middle American voters.
Lets not shift the blame Ms. Sheila.
You and I and most on this board did our duty and went down and voted straight GOP. As we also did on 11/7/06. I know for certain that my personal get out the vote efforts delivered a solid 7 votes for McCain/Palin. And possibly many more.
But its time to point the finger of blame at those elitist elements within the GOP that are trashing "our" party. We can't blame the masses out there. For most if they're not enthusiastic they stay at home.
I have a new post on my blog where I try to reach the core/root reasons for the loss of votes. The GOP was down apprx 7 million votes over all from 2004. The dem's were very close to the same this time as in 2004. What does that tell you? The GOP has some major adjustments to make. But I still don't even think the GOP Hierarchy realize "they" have a problem. DD

He DD!
It's hard to overcome the idea of "change" when the media, the left and right have been bashing the president and the GOP every day for eight years. It simply reached a point of no return.
Between that and pure selfishness of people who want the government to do everything for them with someone else's money, voting for bigger govent we're sunk.
As long as the GOP has people who can never get together and support the party, we will continue to lose, and the country will sink further into radical socialism. We can't expell everyone who isn't as conservative as we are!
Look at the factions that are there among the GOP now...it's and impossible situation...the angry conservative will never win people over, I'm afraid.
Reagan was one of a kind. He was a happy person, who could express conservatism in a positive way. I haven't seen anyone with that gift anywhere in the GOP, except maybe Gov. Palin. We'll see if she can overcome the image the media
has created of her...
I'll stay optimistic, but based on the negative stuff I hear from felow conservatives on the blogs and on radion, it's with a grain of salt that I remain optimistic...

Hats off to you, Sheila
for standing up for President Bush who has been accused of being at fault for everything from the landing of the Mayflower to things that haven't even happened yet. I wonder how long it will be before we'll be wishing we had him back.
As for the duffuses who either didn't vote at all or threw their vote away by casting it for a "can't win" candidate, you are right again.
Good work. Keep it up.
