A Memorial Day Prayer

You know it's really hard to explain, but anyone who gave their life for this nation, whether liberal or conservative, democrat or republican, or anything else, will always touch the hearts of true Americans on Memorial day. It is a day of remembrance when party affiliation, religion, secularism just doesn't matter. There is something about sacrifice that transcends all debate. Good prayer.

Thank You for commenting and I agree I am beginning to think less about party affiliations and more about the actual heart condition of people. If we folks can all agree on one thing it would be that that the love of God rises above man's differences Hallelujah!

Thanks for this very heartfelt prayer, Weezie! My mother`s brother died for us at Okinawa in 1944. He was 18. My grandparents bought him a motorcycle before he left. It was something they knew they should do. The family story still brings tears to my eyes. There is a street named for him in the small town they lived in. God bless our Military, and please protect our country.

I saw in Bobbie's "Message Board" that you had fallen and were having trouble with your mobility.

You are in my prayers.

Having bad knees (I mean really bad; my right knee has a steel plate, 4 screws, and a piece of sea coral grafted in; and its my "good" knee), I know it can get depressing. But my grandmother use to say that every day we live is one day closer to our home in Heaven.

Keep your faith in God and some how figure how to make "lemonade" from the "lemons" you were given.

Remember, God does not expect kittens to fight wildcats and win. He merely expects us to try and to do our best.

(PS: I am a nibblin' grizzly bear. Just ask my grand-daughter. And they are the worst kind.)

Is the name "Jesus" holy intrinsically in itself? Or are trying to imply that you are asking all this on his behalf? Why not just ask all that directly from God? Do we need to hoop through a middle man?

Thank you for commenting. As a Christian I believe that Jesus is the Son of God and acts as the inter-mediator between God and Man. Because God is perfect and man is sinful God needed a perfect sacrifice one that would remove mans sin for all time and in that He came to earth as a man to not only be the perfect sinless sacrifice but to fully embrace what it is like to be human yet divine and sinless. Jesus said no one comes to the Father except through Him and John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten so that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but should have eternal life" This to me is the ultimate proof of love for all of mankind.
