OK. Let Me Try Explaining It One More Time While I’m Still Legally Allowed To Explain It.

They really don't care

Liberals are drunk with their own power. Drunkards cannot be trusted to reason. In the intoxication, they have mistaken the rejection of moderate Republicans as proof that America is liberal positive. So now they ignore overwhelming data against their agenda. It won't change unless we change it. Read my blog on the Power of Hypocrisy.

In addition ..

.. let's not forget Christian radio. There is (rightly) a lot of talk and focus on conservative talk radio but let's not forget Christian radio. Imagine a station compelled to give equal time to all the other religions in the world.

The (un)Fairness Doctrine is not just about squelching conservatives - but also Christians.

Pscyclone

You are correct. "Absolute power corrupts absolutely" and there is nothing about our current government which suggests that they would leave Christian radio alone. Equal time to Islam will be mandated. Hate Speech legislation is already bound to make critique of Islam against the law.Other religions as well will be clamoring for equal time on Christians stations.

BOB. Known also as localism

With 14,000 radio stations in the U.S, this is a big story. Most of these broadcasters are struggling financially. That has always been the curse of the industry.

Localism is more pernicious than the debate indicates.

When I worked for WBAP in Fort Worth, we were the politically protected; but the smaller stations faced ruin with each payday. One station even put a roving "spot" news mobile unit on the streets. To gain some freedom from Localism, their red van doubled as an ambulance and a reserve cop. That led to marathon hours of broadcasting searches and car wrecks. Once they even remained on the air for three days as the cops and firemen searched for a Python that escaped from the zoo. The reporter/ambulance driver became so bored that he fired his .45 into the air pretended that he was being attacked by the monstrous serpent.

Under those conditions, the stations don't need qualified employees, and usually rely on beginners willing to work for coffee and rolls.

Not only will the stations dependent upong Rush and Hannity be reduced to playing Rock and Roll exclusively but also they face an affirmative requirement that they be able to show the FCC proof of having produced community enhancing programs that are not political or otherwise controversial. Prepare for flag football and Ladies soccer ad nauseum.

Klem

You said, it Klem! Thanks for reading.

the end of AM radio.

Radio stations are in the business of selling
advertising. In order to sell this advertising they need an audience. AM radio was losing its audience when FM radios became the norm in
the 70’s. Music moved to FM and AM was relegated to local stations and a few ‘top 40’ hold outs. Talk radio evolved but it was mostly self-help gurus and recipe shows. AM Radio was dying.

Then in 1987 the original Fairness
Doctrine was ended. Shortly after Rush Limbaugh pioneered the idea of political discourse presented in an entertaining manner.
Howard Stearn introduced the idea of dialog between the producer and the on air talent. Suddenly Talk Radio was hot and AM radio was saved from extinction.

Today the proposed fairness doctrine only targets AM and some FM stations. The result will be an exodus to internet and satellite radio. AM radio will cease to exist except for small 'hometown' radio stations.

Do you

hear the Jack Boots now? The way to control the masses is to stop any opposition. Not only is congress looking at radio, they are also looking at the internet and printed news.
Is the sound louder now? With the Liberals in power now, look for the Gay adjenda making it illlegal to say or print anything against them. All printers who print religious texts including the Bible will be banned. What about now?

Jim and Third Eye

Both of your comments are wise and right on target

Why Liberal Talk Radio is a Flop

Read Thomas Sowell's 'The vision of the anointed. There you will see that views of people on the Left are handed down from the 'anointed.' With that dynamic in place, there is nothing to discuss.---jwthinkwright

excellent points

Wonder how many Americans know about the Fairness Doctrine. It's very true that the whole reason why they're even going to push it will be to take off conservative shows all together. The big guys will still have their shows, like Limbaugh, Hannity, and O'Reilly. The other shows though will probably be taken off. I've written about this subject many times myself. Americans had no clue before election day about the Fairness Doctrine or the union card check law that allows unions to have open ballot elections as to quell opposing voices. If they knew, many would probably still not care. They wanted change. They wanted two major steps towards fascism.

Fairness doctrine anything but

The fairness doctrine is straight socialism, nothing less. Taking the market place out of the equation, which rewards a popular product and pentalizes an unpopular one, to replace it with a government mandated requirement is nothing more than a direct attach on American values. If liberal thought had a popular following that was defensible, it would thrive in the market place. But since it is based on lies and deception it is doomed to fail. Its argument is the same as the base belief system. Deception. The Fairness doctrine is anything but fair.

If dissent & free speech on radio/TV are

silenced that will be the day America implodes. What good will our free system be should it become like the tyrants/dictatorship Nations
behave! If you have nothing to hide let the opposition depict any 'lying' words, which could be proven unworthy. The reason Fox, on radio and cable/TV, is so successful is because we can count on them to present, fair and balanced, both sides, based on factors not emotions or just to impress their King Obama! Go Sean, Beck, O'reilly, Greta and regulars! We need you! God bless America, Ex Democrat

O'thinks we still believe his lying word

I'm afraid he lied and has broken his promise one time too many. Actually, I realized when Obama was a smooth talking clever Senator, talking his way into the White House, with his false gift of gab! Informed minds know the Prez., didn't win because of accomplishments, nor was his resume impressive. The Rookie lucked out and won by default, even when it was learned he had past relationships with anti-America friends? Now you know the rest of his song and dance spin. His so called 'change' is for the worst and the 'hope' promised now gone!
No doubt the dependent push overs who believe what they want to, not the reality, will continue to give their King Obama the benefit of any doubt. The arrogant misguided President could moon the dense Obamacan'ts and they would still elect him, Ha!
