One Foot in the Grave?

RIGHT ON!!

Thanx-Mrs AL. I really like the song by Survivor-it has a very strong message (the Rocky movie was good too!) Far too long the left have been nearly pulling all the punches. We are not a punching bag for those who want to pummel us to views harmful to our Nation. In Glenn Becks book "common sense" he exposes much!! I do believe it is 1776 all over again! and our message -as with the TEA parties must be loud and clear: DO'NT TREAD ON ME!!!!

one pesky thought

to 'munge' on

What do we do when DC elites don't want to retire quietly into private life?

Other than that, I heartily agree.

1776 All Over Again?

Well, I of the Tiger, I certainly can see where you would come to that conclusion. BTW, my husband person wants to fly the Don't Tread on Me ouside our home. Normally we don't "advertise" where we stand. We are considering this at this point in time.

Pesky MD/MG

Just kidding! Munging here ... give me a minute ... Light Bulb just went on ...

DC Elites will be irrelevant once the States reissue the DOI. They will have to 'make it on their own' like the rest of us. How's that for poetic justice?

That

I can live and let live with. If they won't vacate DC, we can just wall off that area and choose a new capitol. Some place where the air and water are less polluted. Maybe some place in the 'heartland' of America. You know, fly over country.

Where, MD/MG?

I am curious! If you were to re-locate the capital, where would you put it?

Ashland, WI

Kansas City. MO; Terre Haute, IN; Some small towns with good grass roots, down home common sense. Places where the air is clear, water is clean and folks know everyone else.

In order to keep it that way I guess politicians wouldn't be able to live there. They can come in, do their business, sleep on a cot in their office, then find their own way back home.

Pie in the sky? Maybe. First we have to get rid of the gypsies, tramps, and thieves that infest the capitol now. Carpetbaggers carrying Louis Vuitton bags.

"MUNGED..."?

"I munged on this..."? I just love it! Learned a new word. Had to go beyond Merriam-Webster online to do it, but it was worth it. Great.

Generally agree with you and other commenters about the mess in DC, but don't think we have to relocate the national capital. After all, maybe it was prophetically appropriate that it was built on former swamp land called Foggy Bottom.

We just need to vote most of the current bums out in 2010, the rest in 2012, and then impose Congressional term limits so Reps and Senators don't become too distant from "We the People" or too complacent about being "public servants."

Welcome, Chuck

to Our Posterity. Well I was born an Iowan and I always understood "munge" to be the human equivalent of a cow chewing its cud.

Foggy Bottom -- good one. Every time I get on metro and even see the name I half chuckle and now I know why!

Heck, it doesn't hurt to plan ahead on possibly moving the capital. Gotta' have long range plans, you know.

Thanx so much for coming by and don't be a stranger. I'll be checking for your next posting soon!

MD/MG's Capitol Ideas

Ok, I appreciate the sentiment! I also like the idea of making this a WORKING capitol, not a capitol for the soon-to-be rich and infamous.

Say, what about Chicago? No wait, it's been relocated to D.C. Never mind.

mrs al

I think we need Don't Tread on Me flags waving all over the country right now.

Mrs. AL, great idea

I don't catch Beck very often and didn't hear his thoughts on this issue but it seems that having a "plan b" on hand and ready makes sense. I'd love for the states to reestablish their rightful authority.

I like it!

I've always said that every 4 years they should shred the budget and start from scratch (and I mean litteraly shred all of it) No previous budget to work from they would have to vote everything from the ground up. They wouldn't have time for all the garbage.

I think we need to combine both thoughts.

Mrs. Al (Always Learning)

It really is sad how out of touch DC is. You can't disagree with the Obama or you are a racist. You can't voice your opinion at a townhall or you are a mob and just a plain loon funded by the GOP.

By the way, the Democrats that I know are mad. Adn they are tired of being called mobs by their own people.

The love fest is unraveling and they are having a hard time controlling it because this was not supposed to happen. The bailouts were supposed to save everything, cap and trade was supposed to be passed in the blink of an eye, stimulus rocked and saved the planet and health care would breeze through and everyone would bow down to the chosen one. Well, that's not happening.

To me this is scary. Where is the unity? Sorry, but if people think we were divided under Bush, heck we are doubly divided by Obama.

Eric – The Flags

Do send a distinct signal and I agree with you. That’s why we are considering it at this time. I would never suggest it replace the Stars and Stripes (as I have read), but it sure would make a statement!

Garnet – Plan B

Is right! Don’t know as I have ever heard Beck speak specifically about a Plan B but he may have. If the States DON’T reestablish their authority, We the People will have to do something unless we just want spiral out of control, IMHO. I know of no one who wants civil unrest/anarchy.

Combining Thoughts w/Jim

‘Shredding the budget each year and starting from scratch’ is a unique idea! Maybe the States could get together and insist on this. Whatch ya’ think of that? Wonder if the States have the guts to push something like this!?

Scary, Sue

Is right on point. Great insight about being “doubly divided [under] Obama.” Is it possible that U.S. Citizens are actually waking up to the fact that ‘government is not the answer, but the problem’? Wow, now that would be a V-8 moment in our country’s history!

fellow "munger"

That I am I totally agree--with another point: get a copy of Glenns book "comon sense" to everyone voting next year!! I could not believe it when I heard on his program that the computers of car dealers are becoming "government" property because of the cash for clunkers program!! Hello Big Brother.

Good Idea!

My wife teaches second grade and she is considering teaching kids the constitution since no one seems to be doing it, or doing well in later civics classes when it supposed to be taught.

Yes!

and not only the Declaration of indepenace but the Mayfower compact--the pilgrims get it right from the get-go...God first Amen!! ( and i have Glenn's book...great)

Re one foot in the Grave?

Great post! I like your reasoning! The Federal Gove was created BY THE STATES. Not vice-versa! So it IS up to the states to fix it!

Glenn Beck

also had on his show a caller from canada that if she stayed in canada with "their" government run health care she would be dead. The waiting time for her operation was that long!!

My Fellow Munger …

Now be careful what you say, 8th Man, you are going to wind up on multiple lists that Big Brother must create to keep us all in our places – haha! We fellow mungers have to stick together, eh?

Patrick, Your wife

Should be encouraged by one and all in her efforts. She is on the front-lines of the future. Sure hope she is able to get the Declaration of Independence in there somewhere, since that is what started all this in the first place. Maybe you would do me/all of us a favor and keep us posted how things progress with her?

The Mayflower Compact

Is indeed an intriguing idea, Patriot 76. I will munge on that idea. My initial (not saying final) reaction is that the Articles of Confederation might be the most appropriate document initially. We sure don't want to be perceived as creating a 'theocratic' type of situation. However, I can see where the Mayflower Compact would be appealing!

Kev’s Fix

You said it so well, I have no comment except to say – I agree 100%!

The Canadian Connection

Indeed, never say die, I have read other testimonials from literally all over the globe about the “stupidly’ conceived idea this administration and congress have for ‘healthcare DEFORM.’

Re superb??

HI! me thinks you posted a comment to BrianR's Blog on MY Blog by mistake? lolo

Kev -- OOOOps II

(Posted this on your blog as well, Kev):

NO!! I just goofed with the name because I had clicked over from Brian's place.

My APOLOGIES!

Comments stand as written ... insert Kev in subject line on my post at your place!

Well, American Sweetheart ...

it seems reasonable to me that the States' have as much a stake in this mess as you and me. If this all spirals into some anarchistic mess, the States will have to deal with the aftermath.

Munge This!

2010 cannot come fast enough! And I am all for Term Limits!!! The big hurdle is to get Congress for them, too! So many of them, including their prez, have never held jobs in the public sector. Would you hire Babs call-me-senator, or nnnnanzi pelousy? NO WAY! Munge on that list, endless!

My husband, from Kansas, thinks the DC crowd should be moved to Independence, Mo! Harry Truman Country! Great blog, Mrs. AL!

I like that

And it sounds like a plan which is better than waiting for the end of the nation.

Dawn’s Mungings

Independence, Mo, eh? Sounds like a plan to me! And your observation of those in charge never holding real jobs in the public sector is soooo right. They are professional politicians who have morphed into an aristocratic upper class.

BTW, I am thinking about adopting a simple philosophy in every election from here on in … anyone but the incumbent. Jim mentioned this earlier and I think that is the way to go. By the time the new crop of electeds figure out how to bilk the system they will be OUT.

End of the nation, Gar?

I happen to agree with you. We are on the brink of extinction. We have a thin veneer of the Constitutional Republic still in place but underneath that veneer is a nasty, ugly reality.

Mrs AL

A "munger" I am also!!please keep on! -I have a post up on Obammacare" a personal post

On the Way, Crossbow

as soon as I can. Look forward to reading it!

You know I have to disagree

I support our federal government in certain ways like ensuring the basic rights and equal treatment of all people. It's a sad reality but certain states have a troubling history (David Duke won the white vote in the 90s).

Of course we still need a federal military. But after that when it comes to plain ol' government funding the reason why the GOP and the Dems both like the federal government is because they are allowed to operate a deficit. I am totally for getting rid of SS and Medicare though.

Disagreeing is a good thing,

Christopher. Never hurts to hear alternate points of view. Thanx for reading and commenting.

You are spot on about the two major political parties, IMO. They are more alike than different today. That said, the fact that “certain states have a troubling history” is not a reason to dump the Constitutional Republic. The national government has morphed into something that is a 180 from the values of the Declaration of Independence and the Articles of Confederation. The Constitution itself has been under assault for much longer than either of us has been alive.

Mrs AL

I believe the government wants us all--in their hands!!I am truly a fellow "munger"!! come on by-I just posted on Obammacare! I tresure you insight.

Munger Watch Dawg

Just got back from your place as a matter of fact. Good one!

And you are right, they want us in their hands and under their thumbs as well. Sorry state of affairs, isn't it?

Mrs. AL

When firing the federal government the states must also unanimously indict the elected officials who actively sought the downfall of America. They must also stop all tax revenues from going to the Treasury. They would need to have an escrow account and collect the taxes for future use by the newly elected federal officials.

With no cash and being incarcerated for high crimes and treason the roaches wouldn't be able to do anything, exept whimper. They would do a lot of sobbing and whimpering. Yep!

Good one, keep it up. I am.

Glenn

PS: I edited out "(choice)" with "(decision)". Thanks for that. too.

Dawndawn

Your hubby is a Jayhawker? Me too.

Wichita, Wesley Medical Center, 7/18/52.

I miss Kansas.

Glenn

Uh oh, Glenn, you just...

gave me an idea for my next posting. Sure hope I can make it work! I'll put it up in a day or two.

It could work

but we need to get rid of ALL the Congresscritters and the President. Start over, clean slate.

A Clean Slate, Davecat

is right on target. This plan would indeed achieve that goal, IMO. That seems to be the underlying theme coming out of the townhall meetings being held across the country.

Munge On! Sister!

I share your sentiments, and sometimes find myself wondering just how all of this will actually play out. I tend to be an optimist in the big scheme of things, even though that can be more difficult lately. However, it does give me hope that the to long Silent Majority is increasing in volume, and could be building to a CRESENDO! Just look at all the intelligent, well-informed and Patrioitically Passionate voices on this website! States need to demand "States Rights" again. There needs to be term-limits on both Houses, a return to the "citizen legislator" concept, and a beautiful, but powerful Revolution in 2010 and again in 2012!

can I

join the "munge" club??? We can call this "the revolution of the clean slate" !!and we know what needs the clean slate--washington. I believe they have already seen the "writing on the wall" that is why they are scramling to do their dirty work before being booted out.

Welcome, Small Town Conservative Voice!

Great to see you here at Our Posterity. I am enjoying reading your blog!

We need to keep making noise and not be intimidated by the press, et al. It is getting to the point that no matter how respectful anti-health care DEFORM voices are, they are demonized. Like many others, I don’t know if we will make it to the elections of 2010, but I will take your lead (and others) and try and be optimistic.

Hey, Shadow95 …

The more mungers the better. I really like your recco to call this “the revolution of a clean slate”!! Excellent suggestion. You bring up a good point about doing “their dirty work before being booted out.” That’s why I am leaning toward the voting method known as – anyone but the incumbent.

Mrs. AL

Oh they definitely want to redo the whole thing, but turn it into something that gives up sovereignty and in place putting in writs of social justice. Got a new one up at my place. Have a good rest of the weekend.

A Foreign Word

Hey, Jesse, I'll get your way as soon as I can. Took a short vacation and haven't been commenting much.

Sovereignty is a foreign word to the current group in D.C. It's like they have been transported to a different planet and are here in body only!!
