NIDAL MALIK HASAN - Is He a Terrorist?

A Coward, Nothing Special

Ed, I think he is a run-of the-mill coward, a doctor who violated the Hippocratic Oath, and a soldier who was all too willing to let the Army pay for his education but didn't want to go into a war zone to do the job he was trained to do. Notice that he spent years at Walter Reed without "snapping"; that he had requested discharge, offering to repay his tuition; and that he only became violent when his unit was preparing to deploy. As for the distinction between crime and terrorism, I have long advocated just charging "terrorists" as plain old criminals, since everything they do is already a crime anyway. Why give them any special recognition or put them in a special category? That is what they crave. They are not special, they are just criminals.

Hate Crimes and Terrorism

R, Those who oppose hate-crimes laws follow the same logic and it's a compelling argument. However, where terrorism is concerned it's not the difference in punishment for the individual its recognizing the difference so future acts of terrorism can be prevented by others. Thanks for your comment.

Of Course He Is...

But he won't stand trial or be executed,it would not be PC,but they executed Timothy Mcveigh in short order.

Fox News Poll

In a Fox News poll, 69 percent of respondents believe we are safer today than we were before the Berlin Wall fell. That's telling. It means people don't appreciate the threat terrorist and rogue nations like Iran and North Korea pose to America. Communists didn't fly airplanes into high-rise buildings in New York or open fire on soldiers on military bases.
