WW III.1

Good article.

If 10 city-busting nukes (25 megaton) were detonated by the terrorists in the 9 largest American cities, plus Washington D.C., I doubt if there would be a federal government anymore.

I think the states that survived with minimal casualties might form alliances with other states and attempt to reform a viable confederation.

These confederacies wouldn't be able to field an army the size of the federal government, nor would it be capable of fighting outside the US borders.

Also, the old saying, "revolution is three missed meals away" would apply.

It is difficult to imagine the economic chaos that would ensue after Wall Street was obliterated. The banking system , the Federal Reserve system, corporate headquarters in LA, Chicago, NYC, Houston etc. would be all gone.

I'll bet that there are contingency plans filed away deep in the federal bureaucracy somewhere that address that scenario.

True but do not discount the fact that each military base is set up to operate on its own and that they are scattered around the country for a reason.

Wall Street, the FED et al are recent innovations relative to the history of the U.S. The people make the economy. Prior to Lincoln the country operated very well without a FED etc.

Money would be useless and I believe that we are survivors who would return to a barter system once the emergency food reserves are used up.

Few people know that we still have food and medical supplies stored around the country.

Thanks for the comment and making me think more on the matter.
