I knew it. We were discussing the necessity of handguns for protection here the other day and of course, the gun snatchers came up in conversation. I said, "Look at England. They have no guns but violent crimes are going through the roof. The crooks just bust into houses now cause they know the owners are unarmed."

People in the UK feel safe because there are no guns in our society, because of gun control.

Except that the criminals have guns. So actually, it would be nice to have a gun underneath the bed, just in case someone broke into the house. You can go round-and-round in circles with this one. And does the 2nd Amendment include knives?

PS: Actually, I understand the point of the 2nd Amendment. It's the ultimate protection against tyrrany, becuase it recognises that the people come first and then the state.

Try explaining that concept to 99% of UK citizens. It's a difficult concept to explain.

It's easier when you demonstrate by example:

e.g. remote rural location ... of course the farmer needs a shotgun to defend himself!

I was a bit confused as to why a farmer could have a shotgun but city folk could not have a handgun.

Hey! I thought the gun ban was the "solution"!
