The Manufacturing of Liberals

How would you do it?

So, from your point of view, how would one inject conservative ideals into the media that teenagers would typically watch? What media? What content? How would you present it? What you've offered is a great concept, particularly for those of us at the other end of the maturity scale who are curious as to what could be done in that area.

How would I do it?

First and foremost, thank you for your inquiry. From what I have seen it is not an easy task to inject conservative ideals into the media, partially because liberals are very good at sugar coating everything that they endorse. Now back on topic, to be quite honest I would state the conservative movements founding ideals ie. what we believe, where we want to take our country, and why we believe this way. However I feel that it is very important that we do not tie the title of republican or conservative to these ideals, but rather we let people discover their interest to the ideas. What I have noticed throughout the past couple of years is that many young people are blinded by their hatred of President Bush, this caused by the media (Jon Stewart),that they don't even realize that majority of the time they would actually agree with our major beliefs. I am sorry if I didn't answer all your questions but I feel this is the basis of a working plan.

Don't give up

Greg Gutfeld, the Dennis Miller Show, Mark Steyn, P.J. O'Rourke, Ann Coulter, South Park are the great hopes in countering liberal control of comedic commentary. They use intelligent but irreverent humor to illustrate absurdities in popular culture and politics, and that's a start. Miller is particularly effective, because he's a convert and is always polite in his discourse.

David Horowitz, who was raised by card-carrying Communists, has made heroic efforts at fighting liberalism on college campi; and you can connect with like-minded students through his site: http://www.studentsforacademicfreedom.org/
Read Dinesh D'Souza's LETTERS TO A YOUNG CONSERVATIVE.

Post clips and quotes from these guys on youtube, etc., keep an eye on the lefty blogs so you know what you're up against. Learn their weaknesses by watching what infuriates them.

I understand and share your concerns. Ignorance is rampant (thanks to liberals in education, journalism, entertainment) and many people have no idea what the basic ideals of conservatism are; not to mention being ill-equipped to recognize the methods and manipulations used by the Left. We need to educate those voters who somehow still don't know that CBS/NBC/ABC/CNN/NYT are shills.

I actually disagree with many conservatives on this site who think social conservatism is the way to win national elections. There's plenty to sell without running the risk of offending young fiscal conservatives by getting into touchy issues that are better left to the states. Personal freedom, enterprise, self-help, small government, low taxes, strong defense, originalist/constructionist jurists... These issues can define the party and attract new blood.

The RNC has been inept at marketing, and Democrats have it down to a mad scary science. Continue to follow the game, and don't be shy about contacting politicians with news and views from your perspective.

Thanks again

Thanks again for the input. I was reading my last post, and I really would like to emphasize on something I wrote. I personally do not like it when somebody from either party (well mostly Dems) approach me and introduce themselves along with their affiliation, then force feed me with their propoganda.

What I am trying to say is that it is very important that we do not draw new people in through people like Rush, not that I don't love the guy, but for someone who does'nt have their mind made up he can be a little to much. So

College... a mine field

Please don't fret about the top students and their "superior" colleges. 98% are lemmings, no matter how creative/alternative/cool they think they are. If a state school, community college, tech training, military are your choices... Look forward to being smug in your lack of debt (or indebtedness to parents) upon graduation!

Conservatives are big on pushing traditional liberal arts education. Beyond Hillsdale College, you'll be hard-pressed to find a school where you can survive the leftist professors in charge of the classics.

Read Charles Murray's "College Daze" column: http://www.aei.org/publications/filter.all,pubID.28471/pub _detail.asp

You're already thinking more clearly than a lot of 30-somethings. I encourage you to think about a career that allows you to produce something real. You'll be happier at the end of each day, and satisfied at the end of your life.

thanks again Pt. 2

Sorry for the confusion. So what I was getting is that we need to make them come to us rather than us go to them. However we can't be like the liberals who tend to paint a perfect picture, we just need to be honest and let people know that we are a party of patriots who care more about our country than politics.
