Comment on: The Ramblings of an Average American

In the Beginning

First, I am a Christian and...

I know that God exists. This certainty has taken me over 40 years to obtain. First as an electrical/mechanical engineer, I have had to be able to "eat, sleep, and dream" advanced mathematics. This includes everything from Calculus to Laplace Transformations to Fourier Analysis to fluid mechanics. Everything fits too perfectly, like it "was designed to do so".

Second, use the "Big Bang" theory. Start with a finite mass of Hydrogen and proceed up the Periodic Chart after the "bang". Everything proceeds smoothly until you get to Carbon. At that point, the Carbon "dampens" and then stops the reaction. Unless more mass is added to the mixture, you can get no further.

BTW I enjoyed your article. I'll check back again.

Thanks Wil and GGhost

for additional info. I've read a lot on both sides of the issues and I think I have the same sticking points that most most believers have:
-What/who was the catalyst?
-How does an explosion CREATE anything?
-How does an eye develop over time?
-How can evolution be random AND selective?
-What's the difference between macro evolution and magic? Time, apparently.

and to me the most important question - Why is man so special? Why does he have all these abilities which other animals do not?

Wil

Glad to see you writting on the topic!

Can't read and comment right now, but will be back later...

Outstanding! Excellent post.

It would be so great if kids in public schools had the opportunity to see all sides of the scientific debate, because it does determine how they view the world. It has huge implications on society, on a person's view of the value of life, how they perceive the power of govt, issues of morality, decency, family.

It seems you had very good insight into things, since you questioned evolution from an early age.

I also love the Scriptures you have quoted. There is so much there...and from a scientific perspective it is astonishing.

Sorry about the typo...Wil

One of my nephews totally rejected Scripture after being taught evolution in school...it's very sad.

We had a teacher here in our area who was removed from the classroom for teaching scientific evidence that refutes evolution. That started me investigating the issue, and as a result I found the Institute for Creation Reasearch.

They have extremely qualified scientists who travel around the world, doing debates and lectures in universities and science intitutes, on the evidence for Creation and against evolution. Their material is outstanding in all fields of scientifc study.

If you ever have a need for material to use in your science classes, they are a fabulous source.

Thanks for your reply to my article on Roman Catholicism. I did not mean any angst against the people of the RC church, just bringing to light the error that the Vatican and others constantly teach. I, like you, want everyone to be set free by the whole turth. Thanks for your reply. Blessings!
