Comment on: Romney for President. NOT!

Other secular reasons not to vote for (Liberal) Mitt Romney

Ugh

Don't get me started with how off the mark most of your "Mormons are RINO's" comments are. That's an irresponsible comment and entirely not true. It's simply ignorant.

I will say this once, so listen up. The Church has no influence on how I vote. Hugh Nibley, one of the foremost "Mormon Apologists" of the 20th Century was an open Democrat. I'm not. I can't stand whiny liberals. I also can't stand people who I feel politically united with, Conservatives, bashing ME and my beliefs on God. A cult? How? Because it's a "New Religion"? Get over it, seriously. How popular was Christ when he first showed up on the radar? Oh, that's right, he was killed after about 3 years in ministry. Trying to debunk Romney as a Christian based on an "unpopular" (though, still the fastest growing) religion in America, is a waste of time and will only help lose people like myself who don't care one lick for Romney based on his politics, regardless of how I believe in God. It's really frustrating when I believe so strongly in Reagan politics and know many, many of you who do as well and I still have to just shrug and smile when you call my faith a cult and say stuff like Romney is "psychologically" unsound. If you wish to discuss religion, e-mail me, I'd love to show you how very "reasonable" it really is. You don't have to agree, just remember that when you generalize and give opinions based on "what you heard" or something ridiculous like that, instead of fact and instead of furthering the cause of Reagan, you alieniate some very good, passionate and intelligent people, like myself.

Please, don't kid yourself. Saying things like, "But this is consistent with Mormonism" and then only telling half the truth, is just a stupid thing to do.

Consider the fact that Abraham and many, many other old testamnet prophets had multiple "wives and concubines". No one in the New Testament does, so, according to your logic, God is inconsistent as well and, as a conservative, you'd NEVER say that, right?
Don't do that. It's what the libs do, man.

I'm not voting for Romney because I do think he's a wolf in sheeps clothing. I do think he's willing to run as a neo-con though his track record, THE FACTS, suggests it.

Seriously, come up with something more to stand on than religion because, honestly, if God can command the Red Sea to part and Jesus can rise from the dead, how is it that he CAN'T have a living prophet on the earth today? You say you're Christian. Really? Because I would think you'd be happy that the Lord has opened the windows of Heaven and that we have more words to learn, to draw closer to God, than the Bible alone. Read about how the Bible was canonized. What got in was decided by MEN, by a VOTE. Look up the word "Trinity" in the Bible. It's not there.

Look, I love the Bible. The New Testament is my favorite of any scripture, just consider the fact that YOU don't know everything. Read the last verse in John of the four Gospels before you bash any "cult".

I want to support being a Conservative. I am one. But, man, don't try to talk about spiritual matters in a logical way when most of the miracles in the new and old testaments don't make tons of sense. How do you think the people reacted when Noah was like, "Dude, I'm tellin' ya, there's a flood comin'!"

No one listened, so don't be so arrogant as to assume you know everything. You may not.

Now, I do love that you're a Conservative with a voice. I support that. I admire that, but we need more responsibility in our party. Learn and TRY TO UNDERSTAND. I'm not asking you to agree, just think things through before you try to debunk the faith of over 12.5 million people, ok?

I look forward to speaking with you soon.

All my best and respect,

DJ H

Furthermore

Also, please realize that the LDS Religion is open ended in that we believe in modern revelation. We believe that the Lord can and does give instructions based on the needs of people on the earth. Where the Old Testamen would teach "an eye for an eye", the New Testament teaches, "Do good to those who despitefuly use you". So, just because the LDS Church taught Plural marriage to SOME and that Blacks couldn't hold the priesthood and now they can and now polygamy isn't conducive (sp?) to Church teachings, that doesn't make Jesus any less of a Savior. All I'm saying is, consider the God of the Old Testament and consider the God of the New Testament and and REASONABLY convince ANYONE that at least SOME things did't change.

Again, the fact that we believe in modern revelation alleviates any irrational concerns you may have. WE didn't change it, but we believe God can, did and may very well do so again someday, and why can't He? Why wouldn't or couldn't He? If He did it then, why CAN'T He do it now?

Best,

DJ
