You were probably going to church because you believe in God and feel the need to worship and get in touch with your fellow worshipers. Thats why what your pastor was saying probably meant something to you. If you were a cynical graduate of Ivy League Universities, where religion was held in contempt (something the bitter rubes cling to in their desperation)and were attending church to build a political constituency you might be a little more understanding when your pastor starts raving about AmeriKKKa. Thats the difference between you and Obama.

I have left a number of churches because of dangerous homiletics. For me, faith is a life or death proposition. Thankfully, as a Roman Catholic, there is always another parish nearby.
