Charlotte Christian Leader Asks the Human Rights Campaign, 'Do Ex-Gays Have Human Rights?'

I'll avoid the collective form and speak for myself. I don't give a rodent's derriere about the sexuality of anyone else within the bounds of consenting adults. I only wish that evangelicals were thud disposed. If someone gets off by having sex with six dwarfs (two males, two females and two transgender) in a pool filled with Russian dressing, that's fine with me.

A problem arises because a considerably amount of bigotry against gay people that is structured around the notion that sexual orientation is a choice. A lasting and FUNCTIONING change of sexual orientation is extremely rare. There are far more ex-ex gays than there are ex-gays. The ex-gay ministries try to obfuscate this simple fact by not publishing any statistics and not doing downstream studies.

The American Academy of Pediatrics has stated: "Therapy directed specifically at changing sexual orientation is contraindicated, since it can provoke guilt and anxiety while having little or no potential for achieving changes in orientation."
