SHAME ON LETTERMAN

Letterman's audience

I can't add to the comments that many many people have made about Letterman's 'joke'. What I find odd is that a boorish, rude, insulting person should be recognized as such whether he/she be Left or Right. I really don't understand. Decency is not limited to those that support for liberal or conservative views. I think of myself as a Libertarian- holding many of the views of the Conservatives but also holding liberal social views. That did not prevent me from voting for Gov Palin during the Presidential election (yeah .. and McCain because he was part of the package). I voted for her- not .. because I agreed with everything she said- but I see her as a decent human being. I am an Agnostic but that did not prevent me from supporting a Christian woman- again because of her decency. I find that someone telling me they voted for A or B because of what A said or B said is sad. They are for the most part politicians who will change what they say as often as they change shirts. Look back over the past election and see how Obama said one thing THEN .. and another thing NOW. The Republicans do much the same thing since they too are politicians .. part of the 'political herd'. It seems to me that a politician that is truthful and honest will much outweigh differences you may have. That 'honest' politician will try their best I should think. 'Good Nuff' for me. If the politician just happens to talk like the people I know .. you know ... 'regular people' .. not the elitists ... just another point for them.

Bob Hopew

Edward, thanks for your comment. I look at it this way, I'm old enough to remember Bob Hope. He was one of the funnies, most popular American comedians of all time. He never made off-color, demeaning, and degrading jokes about women like Letterman and other comedians today. It's almost accepted that you have to use foul language and demeaning comments to get a laugh. Not even Don Rickels would stoop so low. Sarah Palin's interview with Matt Lauer on the Today show this morning was excellent. She's fighting back and it's about time.
