Wall St. Socialists

Instead of tossing around terms you do not understand (like "socialism"), try focusing on something you pretend to understand ... like Capitalism.

Capital has always moved to wherever it can maximize profit. That's what sent New England's cotton mills to the South, starting in the 60's, in search of cheaper labor.

Those were the early days of what became known as "outsourcing". Those New England towns declined, but hey ... tough. The Market is always right.

Now the outsourcing is extending to Knowledge Work. Insurance companies are sending their basic policies to be done in India.

In essence: if your job can be automated, digitized, or outsourced ... it's in danger.

There is one major market opportunity staring America right in the face: Green Technology. This nation should lead the world in green R&D, innovation, manufacturing, distribution, and consulting.

But we don't. And we won't, as long as the "Free Market" is hamstrung by government subsidies to oil and gas companies. And as long as an administration is governed by ideology ("Global Warming is a hoax!) and greed ("The lobbyist from Mobil is here for his appointment, Sir") instead of pragmatism ... nothing will change.

If you're a Conservative, you know in your gut that the Founding Fathers never intended that We, the People would turn over our responsibilities for governance to experts of every stripe.

Right! My Capital has moved to Brazil where the business climate is far less hostile than over here. Less Government meddling.
What you refer to as "Outsourcing" was, in effect, "moving to friendlier environments".

When we outsource in Agriculture, we contract other farmers for additional production to meet demand we, on our own, can not.
No one is irreplaceable, indeed I own the lion's share of my business but it will go on just as well without me.
Your idea of a "major market opportunity" sounds more like a "Green Wet Dream" to me. Nothing that private enterprise would touch. But then, you seem to have great faith in the lawyers that run this country...
Agriculture is also "hamstrung" with subsidies and that's exactly why it's dying on the vine. Farmers have become lazy and less productive thanks to subsidies. You'd be surprised how far ahead Brazil is today in farming technology.
As far as "greed"...well, there are as many definitions to that as there are people.
Government should mind it's own business and quit meddling in every petty aspect of individual living. It should also stop meddling in other countries' affairs, it's simply none of our business.
