White House Repeals Conscience Protection

Conscience…

Obama’s view of state authority is consistent with unrestrained authoritarian systems. What the Bible condemns as ‘lording’ it over the people is the tyrannical rule of lawless men that abuse the conscience of other men.

If life is not sacred to him, then why should we expect him to think differently about conscience?

Thank God for the states

Forty-seven states recognize the right of conscience as a constitutional issue. Good for them!

forthcoming trials

Yet another progressive step toward the believers redemption.

Daniel 3
16Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. [They were not concerned about their seemingly impending doom]

17If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. [one way or the other, they knew they would be delivered that day]

18But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up. [Their confidence was in deliverance from the flame, but they left room in their faith for God's will to be done. Even if it means our death, said they, we will not lose our integrity with God]

They did indeed go "through the fire", and emerged unscathed with a great testimony for God's glory. If we believers hold to the Truth and keep our integrity, we too can pass the trials of our faith that ARE forthcoming.

Chiefest...

Well said & welcome back. I think your use of Daniel is appropriate. We are being held captive in our own nation by men who subvert the Constitution that they swore an oath to uphold. And many are clueless as to what is happening because they are clueless of history and don't believe the Scriptures about the nature of man.

I think of Daniel and his friends as examples of what it means to walk humbly with God. We have much to learn from them.

waning liberty

Thanks for the welcome, Vft.

Isaiah 5:20
Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

There is much more in this chapter to indicate how far God will go in His anger when He looks for judgement (vs7) and finds none. I know this passage refers to Israel, but we can find much in it that mirrors our nation today if we look.

"God who gave us life, gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are a gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that His justice cannot sleep forever."-Thomas Jefferson,1781 Notes on the State of Virginia

Now as I post this, I realize that jack and C5 will dredge up some slur on Jefferson, but the fact is that what he stated is coming to pass. We, as a nation, enjoyed liberty so long as it was realized that it was a gift of God, to God be the glory. Now, we see a reduction in these liberties; a correlation to the spiritual decline of America.

2 Corinthians 3:17
Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

Then it would follow that where the Spririt of the Lord IS NOT, there is woe and TYRANNY.

Force and Conscious

Regardless of what Thomas Jefferson believed about god, the supernatural, or where rights come from the issue here has nothing to do with theology. It has to do with force. Government is force. I think we can agree on that. And forcing people to do something they don't want to do goes against the nature of a free society. If someone doesn't want to sell birth control on their personal grounds, fine. They shouldn't be forced to. But they should also realize that it is something they must work out on their own accord with their employer. If someone is working on a pharmacy and they will not do certain tasks, then they run the risk of employers firing them because of it. And that's okay. If employers can't get employees to serve their customers the way they want, they have every right to fire them.

The issue is having the government involved. This is an issue that needs to be worked out between employer and employee. Bureaucrats and government officials should stay out of it. Regardless of what one believes on abortion, this is a free country. People have the freedom to do as they please so long as they don't impose their will on others. That is not an issue of god given rights. That directly relates to the nature of a free society, protected by law and order.

rights-jack

So when my right to obey God according to the dictates of my heart and conscience conflict with your freedom to debase yourself, who do you judge to be the victor? or do I have that right in your view?

Chiefest

Sorry Chiefest, but this is a free society. If you don't like the way certain people express their freedom, then maybe freedom isn't for you. So long as obeying your god doesn't impose on others, you're free to do so. But you have no special privileges that others don't. An atheist or a muslim has the same protections as you do. Part of freedom is the pursuit of whatever makes someone happy. If happiness to some isn't something you deem moral, that's too bad. That's freedom. You don't have to like it. You just can't impose your will against it even if you do believe your god has ordained you to do so.
