CHRIST'S LAST MOMENTS ON THE CROSS

Our sin was placed ON Jesus.

Jesus cried out these words when God the Father broke fellowship with Him. Because of His holiness, God MUST turn His back on sin. Jesus became sin for us--and in that moment, God the Father truly sacrificed His only begotten Son for us pathetic sinners. Jesus was accustomed to having intimate communion with His Father; all that vanished when He took our sin "in His body on the tree."

Thank God for His unspeakable gift!

Jesse, as I've commented

before, I have to put this away and read it again in order to fully digest it. I'm also sending it to my son, David who is a dedicated Bible scholar and to his brother Dan who is also well versed, (no pun intended) in scripture. This work you do takes a lot of time and intense study and I appreciate your dedication and effort. Keep up the good work.

Great analysis. Have not digested every word so I won't comment on any details per se.

I will say that this seems to support what I was taught soooo many years ago, and that the only correct exegesis of Scripture is Scripture.

Thanx for the analysis and reminder of what Jeses was willing to endure on my behalf. It's humbling!

Jesse

I have heard it opined that this was Jesus offering comfort to beleivers on hand at his death. The theory is that he spoke the opening verse of the 22nd Psalm KNOWING that believers would then know the rest of it. Either way, their is NO DOUBT he was what he said he was.

Jesse, as Lynne Said

Jesus became "sin" for all of us. He became the "Passover Lamb" (and remember the instructions concerning the Passover Lamb, not a bone was to broken).

When Jesus became sin and the sacrifice for all of our sins (the perfect sacrifice!), then God turned his face from His only Begotten Son.

"With a loud cry, Jesus breathed his last." (Mark 15:37) In John 19:30, we learn that the loud cry Jesus said was, "It is finished."

If you check the original writing of the New Testament, "It is finished" is what an athlete yells as he crosses the finish line. It is a shout of triumph. Jesus conquered sin and saved all of us.
