Happy Father's Day!

Great column, Flag!

Not only your assessment of fatherhood and malehood in general, but the effects of Great Society liberalism on the Black community.

Ya know, one reads about these things commonly, but to get the inside scoop from someone who's "been there, done that" is always a most valuable insight, especially when the relating of the story isn't filtered through the rose-tinted lenses of the liberal MSM.

LBJ's Great Society was especially destructive because just as the Black community was pulling ahead and into mainstream society here came a program that almost seems designed to destroy the family unit in the Black community; a community, incidentally, that traditionally and historically has very strong cultural mores enforcing family ties and commitments.

Tragic.

Well said my friend, bravo.

No arguments here,

being in a similar situation to your cousin, having fought to obtain custody of my two kids (which I received when they were 4 years old and 11 months old). I've first-hand experience on every level (from social worker to police to judge) at which the system is gamed against men when it comes to kids. I would also add that the system is therefore gamed against the kids themselves.

My case is a perfect example of this, the mother was clearly abusive, not to mention psychologically unstable (for which I had a psychological report) yet that seems to matter not a whit (except to the judge I had at the preliminary hearing). According to the Children's Aid report on their mother(of which there were two, which I only saw because my lawyer asked for it and the judge agreed) random daily beatings over a four-year period constitute 'inappropriate discipline' when a woman does it. Although feminism only seems to work for women over 18, it was my daughter who was the eldest and the victim of mom's tender mercies, yet no one in the system gave a whit about her.

Men cannot be victims of spousal abuse by definition. My mom told me that she contacted a social services worker (gubmint employee) and asked her (note they're always hers, the gubmint is one of the few places where a degree in feminism, I mean gender studies, gets you a job) about services for abused men. The worker told my mom that a) men are not abused, and b) if a woman does anything to a man it is in response to something the man did (i.e. he started it). I guess that's why the domestic violence law in the states is called the Violence Against Women Act.

I could also go into why no-fault divorce laws were also instituted to protect women, but I think I've gone on long enough already.

Have a good day, Flag.

Thanks for weighing in with your experience; I know the feeling, somewhat. When my wife and I hit a very rough patch and seperated, I was the one going through hoops just to keep a good relationship with my son. The entire courts sytstem is rigged against you, but I applaud you for doing what a man is supposed to do...you fought for your children and their well being. Bravo to you for not allowing the system to beat you down and make you give up!It is men like you and my 'brother' that makes me especially proud to be a man.

God's mercy be with you as you do the hard job of raising your kids. Be blessed, my friend!
