A Lot of Our Military Says We Can't Win

Many of them decorated and honored Generals.

'Many' is an interesting number...

...But can you say 'Most'? I don’t deny that some say that, but even a cursory survey of people I know in the Mid East, from a St. Sgt to a Lt Col., say we can. I think a BIG majority disagree w you.

I'm no statistician, but do you really think the military at large think we’re losing? I think it’s interesting that most of the ‘we lost’ talk is coming fr Democrats.

Q: do YOU want America to win?

No Majority

And I hope I didn't imply that there was one. Just a few generals. Interestingly they're the retired ones who have license to speak freely.

To speak to your question - no, I'm a Democrat and as you know, we want a humiliating defeat in the middle east so we can facilitate the takeover of the country by our Taliban overlords. Yes, it's true. When you read those polls, the majority of Americans are, in fact, undercover Arab Terrorists.

Ha ha! Just kiddin'!

Of course I'd want us to win. I'd also be happy if we won the war on drugs and the war on crime. Fact is, we're not fighting a war in Iraq. We are there to lure the terrorists into someone else's country in hopes that we can keep killing them until all terrorists sensibly conclude that they should leave us alone. Putting aside the moral question of using someone else's land to fight our battles, the real question is:

Can we succeed?

I don't have that kind of confidence in the pragmatism of terrorists. Do you?

I THOUGHT SO!!

Jk – that’s a good one. I just like hearing a Democrat say he wants us to win – sorry, but I don't hear it from that side very often.

A war is a huge rock to push, and one side is doing all the pushing while the other side is doing all the criticizing. Can you imagine what would happen if every Jew, Christian, atheist Buddhist, liberal, conservative, homosexual, evangelical, and normal, non-homicidal Muslim took a united stand against these killers? When you accommodate tyrants, they kill you last.

Like the American Civil War, many wars start for one reason but continue for others. The Union was emphatic that the CW was not about slavery, but it rapidly became about slavery shortly into it. By the end, that was THE issue--and that was the issue that ended it.

We went into Iraq because of Saddam's threats and the shadow of 9-11. Now we are fighting it because of the quaint belief that people prefer freedom to oppression. The insurgents believe that too – why else would they confront us in Iraq? Because they don't want a democracy next door. If M.Easterners can live free right across the border, what will they need an oppressor for? It’s about power, who gets to keep it, and who squeals first.

Iraq has a lot of oil. We’ve kept our hands off it, because it’s not ours – it belongs to the Iraqis. But what happens if we leave and they're not strong enough to defend themselves? Who gets that oil? Who gets that stranglehold on world economies?

And I do believe terrorists can be pragmatic if they fear losing. Gaddafi, for example.

I am ok with this idea though: if in a legitimate election, Iraqis voted that US Forces should leave, then I am fine w leaving. I just don't believe that’s the case. But hey, let them vote!
