AN IRONY OF HURRICANE IKE

Resident

As a life-long resident of Galveston, I remember my Grandmother telling us stories about the 1900 storm.

As a little girl, she and her family escaped on the roof of her house and watched bodies float by for days.

Hoping and praying my friends and neighbors (not to mention our home!) are all ok.

Issac's storm

I just got the book last night from the Library that tells what happened. Joseph grabed the hands of his borthers daughters when the surge hit and went through a window. They were saved by the hou8se wall floating like a raft.

Response

The stories of the 1900 Storm are many and far-reaching. Future generations will surely add the stories of Ike.
