An Open Letter to The Republicans:

Yes, yes, yes.

I want my party back. Sanity102, for years they have been doing this - they used to stand on the single issue of abortion. Now they have a good guy in the WH on the social issues and they want to destroy the prospects of the GOP over immigration.

I just don't get it. Because of their stand on abortion the Party that is "for" abortion stayed in power for 40 years... Now they have surrendered power to the "pro-amnesty for all Party" because they are against amnesty. I say, stop blackmailing the GOP and go start your own Party.

Let the GOP become the "majority party" if it is not too late.

For a very long time

I was an absolutist on one issue--abortion. Yet, even then I was realistic enough to know that I had 2 viable choices: GOP or Dems. Because I disagreed with the latter on pretty much everything else, I normally took a second look at the GOP candidate--and the abortion issue was ALWAYS a PRIMARY ELECTION factor.

Once the primary elections were over, both parties CLOSED ranks...this isn't "weak knee, blind devotion"...this is being INTELLIGENT.

I, as an Independent, would never vote for someone JUST because they were pro-life, but I would NOT vote for someone who was pro-choice as I would not vote for someone who was pro-child abuse; for me, it shows the state of their character.

Of course 9/11 changed all that.

I am as passionate about the abortion issue as any hard line anti-illegal (aka Mexican) control advocate. But I've known forever that you CANNOT win unless you at least get into the game. The GOP will at least give my issue a shot. And the prime issue; the one that trumps all else is the war on terrorism and it is the one that only the GOP can win because only the GOP WANTS to.

As Hugh Hewitt is always saying; "We can fix anything but losing the war."

Sanity102:

I completely agree. You can't change anything if you don't get elected.
