Voice of America: US Lawmakers Welcome President Bush's Statement on Darfur

3 Comments

And the difference is...?

What strikes me is this...here (Darfur) we have President Bush "turning up the heat" with "economic sanctions" and the media is virtually silent. Even with their BIG story being elsewhere it is not understandable, especially when just last week Sen Joe Biden got national coverage when he said;

"It is time to put the military option on the table...and use it."

When he was asked about Darfur. The Senator wasn't talking about 20,000 UN 'peacekeepers' either, he was talking about US combat troops.

So President Bush does the sensible thing and hears the sound of one hand clapping. What's wrong with this picture?

First, why wasn't anyone outraged at Biden's comments, after all, according to the Democrats the genocide that will take place in Iraq if we leave is of no concern to us.

Second, according to the Democrats again, our troops are tired & need a break, they are stretched too thin, they MUST be redeployed! Of all the places in the world we could choose is Darfur even in the top ten? I even thought the intent was to bring our boys home.

Third and the last thing I'll mention is this. If it were George Clooney or Angelina Jolie or any other of the fringe left calling for whatever they thought necessary for Darfur the MSM would have been all over it.

But I do want to say thanks for posting this, miamivoter. We cannot let the Liberals, even elected ones, to dictate where, when or why we should deploy our military. It is the job of the Commander-in-Chief to make those decisions.

PS

I guess one party's genocide can be that same party's civil war...like the Re-Max told me when I bought my house;

"It's all about location, location, location."

Darfur is another front

in the war on terror. We cannot fight them all at once, but this is a good start to dealing with it. As Magnificaus says, Biden is so clueless he doesn't even see the contradiction. His plan for Darfur would be just like the Somalia disaster. You must go in prepared for the worst, and willing to do what it takes to overcome it.
