Truth/moderation

You make an excellent point about moderation as a substitute for truth--the attractiveness of the imagined balance that a political moderate has is often of greater interest to the press than blunt and detailed presentation of the truth.

I guess the media also believe that such punditry shows, that they themselves are actually very, very balanced in their reporting. It's all perception really - smoke and mirrors - completely separated from reality.
